The Oxford Arms, Camden

I went to this place after seeing it on a list of 'best london pubs' shown on another website. Whoever nominated it clearly hasn't ventured to anything beyond an average pub. Don't misunderstand me, this place is fine and has an okay range of beers. However, it is very average and can get very busy with people standing near to the bar watching football. There is beer garden outside which I quite liked. Fine for a pint or two with your mates, but there are much better boozers in Camden such as the Elephant's Head across the road.

The Three Tuns, Marylebone

Handy place to pop in for a pint just near to Oxford Street. I went in for a pint and liked the atmosphere straight away. There was a roaring fire and a generally comnfortable feel to the place. The service was fine and the range of ales was not bad either. I would imagine that it could get busy at night, but for mid-afternoonn on a Thursday there was plenty of space. Not bad at all.

The Porterhouse, Covent Garden

A big pub with a large selection of beers from all corners of the world. Expect it to be very busy at a weekend and if you get a seat you are very lucky. I generally go during the day on a weekday and have no problem getting a seat in the labyrinth of stairways and levels. The range of unique beers is unrivalled in central London - where else can you buy Vietnamese and Corsican beers under the same roof?! Worth visiting for the option of trying something different if nothing else.
