Bar Oz, Oxford

Not a pub anymore.
Now part of the Wagamama noodle bar chain.

The Star Royal, Oxford

Decent one room pub with pool table out back. Students dominate but it does have some decent music. Good location off the Cowley Road.

The Honey Pot, Oxford

Decent 2 room pub. Greene King I.P.A was available. Very "studenty" but near the station if you fancy a quick pint. Limited menu. Found 20 note on the floor once so I may be biased

Rosie O'Gradys, Oxford

I'm not a fan of chain theme pubs, but, I quite liked this place. A small snug bar with open fire and a larger public bar which sometimes does live music. Caffreys, Harp and The Black Stuff.Limited menu. Went on a Saturday night and had a good craick (sorry).

The Red Lion, Oxford

Avoid. Huge charmless place. Some real ales and a decent patio area. For any-one who remembers it as The Brewhouse it would bring a tear to your eye to see what has been done with this fantastic building. Wheelchair access.

Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford

Good range of bitters (has it's own beer festival). can get busy at lunchtime.Piped music is a downfall. Wheelchair access.

The Turf Tavern, Oxford

This is the best pub in Oxford. Especially if you like real ale. It can get very busy in the summer(tourists) and winter(students). Try the Turf Tavern Ale. Never tried the food but there is a non-smoking eating area at the back. Accesible for wheelchairs.

George, Littlemore

Decent Fullers pub which does an extended menu. Popular Sunday lunches. Set in three rooms with a large garden, car park and playground for kids. Live sports in main bar. No smoking section. Has now introduced live music on an irregular basis. Checkout the popular quiz on a Sunday night. On the downside piped music is played in the rear room which I found annoying. Overall....Reccomended

The Watermans Arms, Oxford

Visited this pub twice during the past year while walking along the river. Good location and easy to get to.....HOWEVER...on my first visit the landlord made a comment about my size (I'm on the large side) which i found insulting, but, then gave me change for 10 when I only gave him 5 (HA HA). On my second visit (with my wife) we were served promptly ,but, the beer tasted like vinegar. Have not been back since and don't plan to.

The Nelson, Cowley

Officially Oxford's worst pub. Always felt unsafe going through the doors, this place seems to attract the dregs of Cowley. Always seems to be dirty and dark. No real beer (all gassy lagers).Hopefully now that Liz has gone the brewery will spend some cash on the place. For it's position should be packed every night but it isn't... tells you everything really .AVOID....spend a couple of quid and get the bus down the Cowlet Road instead.

The Kite Inn, Oxford

Good back street boozer. Landlord Pete runs a tight ship, constantly changing real ales, nice freindly atmosphere, nice garden outside. Watch-out for the dogs though- they're allowed to run wild throughout the pub. Stays open late on the weekend (time called about 11:45)

The Cellar Bar, Oxford

Now only seems to cater for students to the exception of every-one else. Poor beer, no atmosphere, too expensive. Will always be remembered by residents of Oxford as THE DOLLY (R.I.P.)

Antiquity Hall, Oxford

has been closed for past couple of weeks-not sure if it's being updated or is closed permanantly. Always been a poor pub...AVOID

Crobar, Soho

Took the wife in on a saturday night...LOVED IT!
as has been mentioned it has a great juke box (mostly metal). Left at about 1:30 am , freindly and safe but watch out for the crappy toilets.
