The Lamb and Flag, Covent Garden

I brought some visitors from Canada to this pub and they had two bouncers at the front. At first myself and another guy tried to get in and the bouncer said no. When the rest of the party arrived, the other bouncer said yes as there were some ladies amongst us. However the first bouncer didn't hear this and when we at the bar he spotted us and yelled at us to get out as we had "snuck in".

It was very embarassing to say the least.

The White Horse, Parsons Green

Great range of ales, nice interior and great location. However the service was very slow and the staff did not know their beers very well. Had to tell them several tmies that we wanted food before someone took our order.

The Sir Paul Pindar, Bishopsgate

This place is the absolute pits. Thought we'd watch the cricket, so walked in and asked what ales they had on tap. The girl looked at us with no comprehension of what we said. The Pride was out so we had the Greene King IPA. TV had ads on so we waited and the football came on instead of cricket! Then we took a sip and the IPA had obviously been watered down.

We returend the full pints to the bar, told the staff it was crap, and walked out and down to the Shooting Star for a real pint.

What self-respecting publican would water down their ale and serve it up to their patrons? For SHAME!

Latymers, Hammersmith

Fairly simple inside, lots of tv's playing sport and fruit machines which was annoying. However they do have Fuller's ales on tap and also a great, cheap and athuentic Thai restaurant.

The Counting House, Bank

Really is the best pub I've found so far in the Square Mile. Gets top points for decor & atmosphere, beer (Fuller's Porter is on tap) and the food (Counting House pie is the money).

The Blackfriar, Blackfriars

I love the interior, love the pies, love the ales. I has a nice little outdoor area too, right in the middle of the city. Bravo!

The Duke of Cornwall, Hammersmith

The staff are dull and lifeless, the food even worse. And it has it's fair share of weird old drunks who want to chat to you. A very awkward place to drink, I won't be coming back.

The Dartmouth Castle, Hammersmith

This pub is flawless. It has kept the olde decor, lots of wood inside, and retains at least a couple of real ale on tap that regularly rotate. A lovely beer garden to boot. Yet it is modern; a down-to-earth but hip clientele, and a Mediterranean menu that has the best pub food I've ever had. The staff are pleasant and very attentive.

The Lamb and Flag, Covent Garden

This place has nice old decor and furniture and real ales on tap, and lots of outside seating. However the Sunday Roast I ordered was terrible; dry stringy meat, over-crispy old potatoes, and broccoli and carrot that had the sh*t boiled out of them. So + points for beer & pub, - points for food.
