The New Inn, Cropton

Visited this lovely lookin place whilst staying at the nearby Cabins. Walked in to find the place swarming with kids, and a huge scary bloke monopolising the pool table. I thought we had walked into the pub in 'American Werewolf in London' with everyone turning round to look at us open mouthed as we entered. Everyone who was crowding the bar promptly turned around and dug themselves in by thier elbows. staedfastly refusing to move out of the way so i coud actually get to the bar for a drink. The barmaid did her best to pass our pints over the other punters, but they still they didn't move.
We sat drank our rather average beer whilst getting the evil eye from some creepy old bloke with a big dog. It was all we could do not to actually run back to the car.

The Weir Hotel, Walton on Thames

not a child friemdly pub?

BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!

That's enough endorsemnt for me, I'll pop in the very next time i'm passing. If you insist on taking your children out in public, there are places for them and these are called McDonalds.

The Grantley Arms, Wonersh

This pub has a great quiz on monday nights. But why does it not start until 9pm? Large selection of food, although menu has not changed in ages. Beers are well kept but a bit pricey for my liking. Staff however are very friendly.

The Parrot Inn, Shalford

I don't get it. We drink in the Parrot regulary, and always struggle to hear the music. I suggest some people turn thier hearing aids down a bit.

The Cranley Hotel, Cranleigh

Unfortunatley, this seems to be one of those places where the staff come in purely to socialise. Don't expect to be greeted or served if you don't know them.

Also does it really take two people to put through a card payment, with thier backs to the customers(who's names they didn't know, or i'm sure they'd have dropped everything and served us) who were waiting at the bar.

Beer was very expensive, 6 for two pints.

Jack George Phillips, Godalming

It's really simple. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! If you want finely kept real ale and, gastro pub grub off spotless antique tables, served by Mr Pub Host of the Year, it'll cost you. And as for atmosphere, you get what you make. This is one of the better examples of the Wetherspoons chain. But one point I really must argue, a few months ago, just for a brief second, I saw Brendon smile!

The Star, Godalming

re: baby gate.

Last time i was there, they had a big dog. Maybe it's to keep it in, or out.

The Three Pigeons, Guildford

I think the man with the bags sometimes sits by the river. But otherwise, I think they have to dust around him!

The Merry Harriers, Hambledon

A Proper local pub. Great beer, a pool table, and (last time I went) one of those space invaders games tables, still 20p a game too! Ahh, brings back memories. Campsite is oposite pub and very reasonable.

The Parrot Inn, Shalford

Fantasic pub, excellent food. David and Trisha are fantastic hosts. Other pubs could really learn from them.

The Seahorse, Shalford

This is our local and we go regularly for a pint and a chat. The bar staff and management are always very friendly and beer is VERY well kept. Upset to here that others have had poor experiences of the food. Every time we have eaten there it has been exceptional. Shame you can't sit at the bar though, I miss that.

Wight Mouse Inn, Chale

It's an real shame, this used to be the most fantastic place. Especially on a winter sunday lunchtime, with locals at the bar, but still plenty of room for us tourists and diners. As well as the whiskey collection, there was also a collection of musical instruments on the ceiling, and lots of white china mice climbing the chimney breast in one of the dining areas. I don't think I have the heart to go back now.
