The Cross Keys, Great Missenden

This is a really bland bland pub. But the worse bit is they try to 'sell you up' its not far removed from a macdonalds.. There must be better in Missenden.

The Boot, Chipperfield

We visited to eat after reading the reviews here. In short, we had a waitress that didn't thank us when we paid or say goodbye when we left (and I was served a disgusting glass of San Miguel which was cloudy and had something floating in it).
The food was overcooked.

The Riverside Inn, Aymestrey

A rather unfriendly manager and a pub that is totally given over to food - you'll have to go when you can sit outside, there are plenty of seats looking over the river. This isn't terribly scenic though as there is a busy A road right next to it. The food is (very) expensive and the only saving grace was a decent pint of bitter. Not one to go out of your way for I'm afraid.

The Wheatsheaf Inn, Ludlow

We sat outside for an hour on a spring evening and chatted to a very friendly regular. Nice view down to the river. Another local had recommended it to us for the food though we didn't try (wish we had, the local Indian restaurants are a rip-off!).
A nice little place.

Boot Inn, Orleton

Went here over bank holiday weekend - great atmosphere, good staff and a good range of beer. They do reasonably priced food that a lot of peoplpe seemed to be enjoying. Well worth seeking out!

The Bell Inn, Yarpole

Visited on the eve of the royal Wedding (2011) . Expected it to be busier (4 people) though maybe people weren't flush after the recent Easter weekend. Anyway, pretty dead at 10pm. But the worst thing was I was served a rough pint of Landlord which, when asked for replacement was given another identical. Anyway, partner wouldn't let me complain so accepted it. The actual landlord was dressed in dirty jogging bottoms and came across as if he really didn't give a damn - apparently he's been there a couple of years and it used to be really good. The place seems to have been turned over to a gastro pub and reports are that the food is OK but expensive. If you're in the area, we found The Boot at Olerton to be very good - great atmosphere and excellent range of beer.

The Three Horseshoes, Garsington

Went here for lunch recently. Quite expensive for for pub grub and not very big portions.

Studio 6, South Bank

A rather nasty place to get fleeced.

If you like drinking expensive, short measure drinks in plastic glases from rude bar staff then this is the place for you.

My companion, last night, has been to eat a couple of times and says the food service can be very slow. I heard an eater, last night, complain that they had been waiting an hour for a main course.

If you want to drink your much better off going to the National Film Theatre Bar 3mins walk up river. If you want to eat, a range of well priced restaurants have recently opened under the Royal Festival Hall or go to the Gourmet Pizza nearer the river.
