The St Johns Tavern, Archway

It's brilliant. What more do you want from a pub? It's got great beer, fantastic restaurant and god knows - if some of the reviewers had ever earned crappy wages serving the increasingly drunk and nasty FANTASTIC STAFF. So drinkydrinks earn 200 a week for a year serving the general public and see if you want to kiss ass.... The only downside I can see is that Toby Young drinks there.

MRC is ok - mixed clientle Irish working class / Irish retired / London Working class/ Art students / middle class professionals popping in for a pint after work. It reflects the area and it is a good boozer. 2nd to St John's in the vicinity as a place to go and is open all day. 1 thing though, if aliens land, Christ returns, a meteorite is 50/50 to hit the earth don't expect to see it on any of the 3 screens. It'll still be the racing from Drummacree or Hexham.

The Lion, Archway

Well - I was most shocked to see the reviews after I'd been there. Obviously it has been taken over rather recently! I'd just got back from LA and we were on our way back fto Hampstead and I saw a rather nice gastro-pub in a rather un-promising location. Imagine my suprise to see (I think) Courtney Pine in the corner. The food was OUTSTANDING..even though it is fusion. V resonablre price too, 15.00 for the Anadolu berek with aubergine - Di-vine. Ask for Julian BY NAME for the wine list. They only serve Georgian and English wine - bizarre I know but the quality was terrif. These guys REALLY KNOW what they're doing. V V shocked to see this place in Highgate borders rather than HG itself..still. A find. Will it last though??? The big Q.....
