Fitzroy Tavern, Fitzrovia

Not as cheap as it used to be. Sam Smiths pub with its own unique brands that take a little getting used to.

The Trout, Hammersmith

For a station bar, its pretty ok I think. It was pretty packed before gig at Apollo, but they seemed just able to cope. The lager was fine and reasonably priced for Hammersmith. The food looked good.
Location excellent for the aforementioned Apollo or if going to FFC.
Its not a destination for a night out but its a decent enough meeting spot.

1 Apr 2014 12:57

The Red Lion, Bushey

Superficially, the pub looks really well, offers a good range of beer and ales, appears to have a great menu, nice beer garden, screens for football etc, etc..
It ticks many boxes.
But something is not right in here.
The clientèle, again at first glance ,appear decent and respectable, but there's a real undercurrent in her making you feel almost instantly identified and unwelcome as a stranger. Nothing blatantly nasty, but small things like refusing to move to allow access to the bar, being passed over for locals when trying to order, generally feeling that you are being "sussed out".
Its cliquey and too villagey. You sense everyone knows everyone.
A really strange experience.

22 Mar 2013 15:30

The Coronet, Holloway

Nice big boozer, good choice ales and ciders, ok food. Does the job well before and after the football at Arsenal...however , they tweak the drinks prices up on match days on their standard beers !!

22 Mar 2013 15:28

The Rising Sun, Mill Hill

Its no longer really a pub, its a restaurant with a tiny bar. Snobby landlord, over priced pretentious food. Over priced beer

21 Nov 2012 15:33

The Bridge, Mill Hill

Standard keg lagers and bitter. It's quite nicely furnished and clean. It's ok to watch Sky football generally. Staff are adequate. The customers are best described as varied.
There's no back yard so the smokers gathered at the front door do present an intimidating barrier and I'm sure that loses custom for this place.

21 Nov 2012 15:31

The Change of Hart, Edgware

Zoo

21 Nov 2012 15:26

The Edge of Town, Edgware

Harvester, Edgware

21 Nov 2012 15:25

The Railway Tavern, Mill Hill

The pub has actually had a complete refit, including new upholstery and furniture, the creation of a snug, and a dining area to the rear. Sunday roast dinners have been introduced. It's not a real ale pub, but there are always 2 cask ales on offer, currently London Pride and Doombar. There was an initial problem with the music, but that's been sorted out and now its zoned front and back. It is a local wet pub, which is a good thing as these are fast disappearing and either shutting or being "gastro-pubbed". I'm a local and I've never done any "intimidating" or been "intimidated", and the bikers on show are generally middle aged/elderly chaps and ladies who belong to a bike club, hence the Harley on the new pub sign. The natives here are very friendly, as are the staff, if you make the effort and since the refurb things are slowly on the up. It's the only proper pub for miles and its worth the effort.
