Balham Bowls Club, Balham

The manageress is quite a hottie!

Charles Holden, Colliers Wood

NIce enough pub with a great garden and excellent proximity from the tube.
Expensive yes, but where isn't nowadays except 'spoons.
Have not tried the food, but the BBQ in the garden last time I was in looked very professional.
Didn't see or hear any bumming or snorting in the toilets when I was there so maybe this is not as prevelant as some might believe.
Good all round boozer....7.5/10

FYI Jack Beard's is officially six feet under. Now a decent pub with nice clientele. The pubs of Tooting are at last representing the changing demographic. Goodbye low-lifes!
I guess most of JB's lot are now drinking in Spoon's. They are welcome to each other :)

The Tooting Tram & Social, Tooting

Had a great time on NYE, surrounded by hotties, served by pleasant staff.....drank lots of fizz. Jolly good!

The Long Room Bar and Hotel, Tooting

Went for lunch today. Pretty empty. Ordered burger at 7.95 and a apple juice with soda and was charged a total of 10.50...erm??? 2.55 for soda water and super cheap out a carton juice. Rip off.
Oh, and the burger, although made there by the looks of it, was bland and tasteless. Ever heard of seasoning chef??? Deep fried (Frozen) chunky chips were cack as well and was denied mayo by my server. May pop back for drinks once in a blue moon but felt very let down by the grub. Still a very sterile bar with unfortunately lame food and staff.

The Ramble Inn, Tooting

It was a shame that on a Sunday at 10.31pm they were not still serving even though the licensing laws have changed and the pub was pretty busy. It's a long walk back to my part of Tooting especially when you have waled there specially because of recommendations.
Lookide like a nice enough place but not convinced about the last persons comment.
Will try again during their (rather antiquated) opening hours.

The Trafalgar Arms, Tooting

Got drunk and went in here the other day for a pint.
Whoops. Smelly toilets and weird punters....how times have changed. Sort it out.
Check out the new Long room, Garden house or Selkirk for an all round better experience!
3/10

The Selkirk, Tooting

I've never had any problem with the real ale in the selkirk, and really like the fact that they change the ales from time to time, so even though they only sell 2 ales at any time it is varied. The Deauchars is top notch at the moment and the abbot that I tried Sunday is pretty good too!
Must have been an off day I reckon.
It's brilliant that Tooting has so many nice boozers now and let's celebrate by visiting them all as much as possible!
Bingo all round!
Toodle pip.

The Long Room Bar and Hotel, Tooting

The Long room is a million miles away from the old Mitre. It has gone from being a pub to being a bar like so many venues in this part of town.
The non smoking aspect seems clever especially with the ban coming up in 3 months although they need to provide better facilities for the smokers outside.
It does not serve real ale on pump but does do bottled Hen and Abbot.
As with all new openings it will take a while to find it's clientele.
By the sound of the dreadful soundtrack when we were in last night I guess it'll be alot of Whitney Houston fans.
Bit bright and souless for my liking but I am sure it'll find it's feet and relax a little.
Good luck to the new team.
5/10. Will report back in 3 months.

Hoochimama's Bar Bistro, Tooting

Went in with a mate for food at 4.45pm, ordered food at 4.55pm. Kitchen opens at 5pm. Food arrives 5.40pm. How the f*ck does that work????? We were pretty much the only people in there. Now I know why. Ended up having to take my grub away and eat on the tube. Not very happy. Please someone buy this bar and save us from this madness!

Does what it says on the box?
Full of wheezing old men spending their pension.
The place stinks of stale smoke and spilt beer.
The best bit about having a pint in here is me being the hardest man in the room, even though I'm 5 foot 2 and built like a marshmellow fence!!

The Smoke Bar And Diner, Tooting

This bar is fine for a drink or two. My friends and I have never had any problems in here but then also never felt compelled to stay for longer than an hour.
It appears (from the last posting) that there is a serious amount of hate surrounding the place though. What's the point in getting so upset.
There are other nice places to drink in Tooting, such as The Garden House, The Selkirk and even the The Spirit bar down on the Broadway, who all make an effort to appeal to the everyman.
Let's not get caught up in a slanging match but just find a place we like and have fun there. Where-ever you choose, drink sensibly and be nice.
Peace.
(My Christ I sound like a right bloody hippy!)

The Prince of Teck, Earls Court

I was freezing my balls of the other day in dirty ol' Earl's Court when I spied this cheeky looking boozer opposite the tube (well kind of opposite if your head is wonky!).It looked pretty busy so I ventured in and waited at the bar for no more thatn twenty seconds when a fit young lady served me a great pint of hand pulled bitter.
I left six hours later having made chums with all of the staff and manager, with a warm glow in my cheeks, a phone number for a potential date and a favourite watering hole for next time I hit Earl's Court.
Top notch, tally ho!
N.K.K.Jones of Devon.
Ten out of Ten
Shame about the hangover next day....

The Moon Under Water, Balham

This place is amazing.
All you ponces and snobs forget that this place houses all the dredgery that you don't want in the pubs you drink in.....and you call yourselves clever?

Gordon Bennett, Tooting Broadway

Although vastly improved since it's refurb, I would still rather be gangraped by the Harlem Globetrotters than drink in here on a Friday night.

The Mitre Hotel, Tooting

This pub is brilliant.
For the one reason that it keeps all the hobos, freaks and psychos off the streets and out of the other pubs.
They've gotta drink somewhere!
Thanks Mitre.

The Manor Bar & Grill, Tooting

Wife and myself had food here the other night.
We love the decor, music etc The ambience is just what Tooting craves - some style!
What Tooting does not need is another pub serving bad food.
My burger was the single worst thing I have ever had the misfortune to be served in any food establishment. Including McDonalds or a late night burger van. My wife's tagliettle was so bad she could only eat 2 mouthfuls.
We pray for the manager's sake and for the public's sake too that the "chef" is fired asap. Oh, and we waited 1 1/2 hours for this inedible debacle of a meal.
The bar staff were happy to lay on excuses for everything but it really is not acceptable for this kind of food to be served. Ever. Anywhere.
Pub as a whole 7.5/10 - minus points for food and service = 1/10.

The Leather Bottle, Earlsfield

Had heard great things about this pub. So I thought I'd take my missus down therefor some grub last night. Twas a long cold walk along Garrat Lane, and the inviting site of this pub was a pleasure to behold. Very nice was my first thought when first stepping through the door. Nice and cosy, with lots of raised areas and a rather pleasant, if un-used heated outside area.
Unfortunately we were served by a barperson who looked grumpier than a grumpy grump on St Grump's day.
There was a huge group of idiot "locals" crowding out the bar area and making sure that every word they uttered was heard in the next postal code area.
We were then dismayed to find the menu unoriginal, tired and pretty bloody pricey for pub grub.
So my girlfriend finished her wine whilst I tried to finish my sub standard ale and we left.
We ended up going to Willie Gunns up the road which was awesome.
Sort it out Young's, you've got a super looking pub there that is 70% great and 30% utter pants.
I believe the term is a "polished turd".

The Selkirk, Tooting

Always good fun down at The Selkirk, everyone makes you feel welcome and the crowd is just right. Not many nobheads - just the nice folk! It would be great to see some sport back on the big screen and the bar billiards back but otherwise it's wicked.
The food is always great value and really tasty, even if the beer is a little pricier than other Tooting pubs. But hey if you are watching yer pennies you should be in one of the scum pubs or in the park with a can of special brew (aka central heating for tramps). Well done you lot at The Selkirk, Tooting salutes you!
