Ye Olde Grey Goat Inn, Cockermouth

Is now shut

Whittington Cat, Whitehaven

I think Keiths been sat in the wrong pub! 'Cat' is long thin pub with not much of a view at all, you can see the church opposite if you're sat at the right table. Ale is reasonable and it does show the footy.

Martinique, Whitehaven

Personally I thought this was the best pub in whitehaven. A gem of a place on a back street. Unfortunately looks like it's shut down now - I guess just too far from other pubs and not even known locally!

John Paul Jones, Whitehaven

Nice enough pub to look at but not the place it once was.

Captain Senney's, Whitehaven

By far the most popular place at about 11pm in Whitehaven, open 'til 2 these days. Cheesy music, beer-soaked dancefloor and lots of people. Don't expect class but a good time guaranteed (suggest you don't turn up sober tho). During the day usually has big screen for footy etc.

The Candlestick, Whitehaven

Agreed, nice pub, if you can fit through the door! Not cheap though.

Bransty Arch, Whitehaven

True enough, Wetherspoons branded. Still most people seem to start the night there and many never leave. Best selection of beers in area (check your CAMRA guide!) and cheap as chips.

Blue Bar and Restaurant, Whitehaven

Recently restyled, now has loads of TVs with a video jukebox. Far more contemporary than most bars in Whitehaven, a nice change and a popular stop on a crawl around the town.

The Royal Oak Inn, Beckermet

Excellent food, good beer a selection of real ales. Low timber roof gives it good character. Lodging available but never stayed myself.
