The Worlds End, Hampton

A good pub, but when I was there they had the unfunny comedy show "My Family" loudly on the all the TVs. Beer was good and the staff were welcoming.

The Red Lion, Twickenham

This pub is much better now it has been rebranded as Filthy McNasty's at the Red Lion. This pub fills a hole in Twickenham; it regularly has live music and therefore makes it reason to come this far from the station.

23 Dec 2006 10:04

The Rifleman, Twickenham

an OK pub - not really the most welcome I have ever felt, but I guess this is a real locals pub

23 Dec 2006 10:00

The Prince of Wales, Twickenham

A top pub - friendly and welcoming, if there were more pubs like this, this country would be a better place.

23 Dec 2006 09:59

The Yorkshire Grey, Fitzrovia

Deserted on a Saturday afternoon, but I had a great Taddy Porter - what else do you expect from a Sam Smith's pub?

17 Sep 2006 10:46

The King and Queen, Fitzrovia

I like this pub a lot - the welcome was friendly and the beer good

17 Sep 2006 10:40

The Good Mixer, Camden

This pub is a strange one - the pool tables dominate the place and there really isn't much room for anything else. I feel that some of the punters are trying too hard to be alternative.

Last night wasn't that busy, but I have been there when it has been really too crowded to be worthwhile being there.

17 Sep 2006 10:38

The Spread Eagle, Camden

An OK pub with a smattering of britpop memorabilia - does a good pint of mixed

17 Sep 2006 10:28

The Prince of Wales, Bishopston

Nice pub good beer and friendly welcome - convenient for the quality local kebab house round the corner too

3 Sep 2006 19:38

The Pipe and Slippers, Montpelier

Had a couple in here on a stag night - pretty cool place with a good choice of decent beers

3 Sep 2006 19:35

The Crown Tavern, Clerkenwell

I walked in to this pub on a Friday night and was initially pleased by the surroundings. The service was somewhat odd though, firstly, the service was very slow, the barman informed me that the manager was doing admin, but told me that he was actually avoiding work as he had a hangover.

Then I was given my pint in a plastic cup instead of a glass - despite the fact that I had informed the barman that I was drinking inside. I don't like drinking beer from plastic cups, but more annoyingly if I wanted a pint of beer that comes in a special glass such as Frulli or something similar then I would have been given a glass - quite annoying really

These sort of happenings went on all evening, suffice to say that I won't be rushing back.

3 Sep 2006 19:29

White Horse Inn, Moretonhampstead

A proper pub with friendly locals - great.
However, the place is in a state of disrepair (apparently there is going to be some sort of refit in the coming months - This is needed, but I hope they don't ruin the place by ripping its soul out.

3 Sep 2006 19:16

The White Hart Hotel, Moretonhampstead

Nice bar and hotel - decent beer and friendly service.

3 Sep 2006 19:13

The Lighter Inn, Topsham

A great location and a wide ranging menu - My lunch was very tasty, but my friend's sandwich was stale.
All-in-all a pretty decent place - can't comment on the beer as I was suffering from last night's excess in a bad way.

3 Sep 2006 19:10

The New Inn, Ham

Decent pub with an emphasis on food, which was OK, but not great.

6 Aug 2006 14:41

The Happy Man, Englefield Green

A pretty decent pub with an OK pub garden and friendly service which is usually a winner.

6 Aug 2006 14:38

The Olde Swan Hotel, Chertsey

Who thinks that a couple of white tins of paint can make a place look any better.

An unfriendly experience and a terrible pint means I won't be rushing back.

2 Jun 2006 16:15

The Anglers, Teddington

This places has had its ups and downs over the years, run down, done up, run down ad infinitum.

It is OK for a few beers in the summer sun, but beware of the kids in the pub garden.

2 Jun 2006 16:14

The Railway, West Hampstead

This pub used to be the Rat and Parrot when I used to go there in the late 1990's, pretty much the only thing that has changed is the name and the slightly extended weekend opening hours.

Standard pub, not particularly outstanding in anyway, but an OK pub nonetheless.

25 May 2006 12:36

The Cabbage Patch, Twickenham

Average for the area - does have late night bar upstairs. However, it is not a great place to be, go to a better pub in Twickenham instead

25 May 2006 12:20

The Bear, Twickenham

Has an impressive range of interesting beers, but is ridiciulously overpriced. Full of types who have delusions of grandeur. Best avoided, Twickenham has so many more better pubs, but then again if you like it here stay at the Bear and don't contaminate the better nearby pubs.

25 May 2006 12:15

Smollensky's, Twickenham

Overpriced and not very good.

The food was mediocre and the ambience is lacking.

I hope never to go there again

25 May 2006 12:10

The Duke of Cambridge, Islington

I have been to this pub a couple of times now and it is always packed!

In answer to the other comments on this site, I am not a local to Islington and find the clientele to be similar to the many other pubs and bars in the area - that is strange and diverse, but generally harmless.

I was looking forward to some of the Shoreditch Stout, but when I asked about it the barmaid didn't know what I was talking about, despite it being on the beer menu on the wall, it wasn't on tap. I opted for the Freedom Lager instead - it was OK, but not disimilar from any other lager that I could have got elsewhere.

I knew before going in that as this was an Organic pub that the prices were going to be higher than that of a non-organic pub, it was at the pricier end of the market, but not as stupendously expensive as some of the poncey bars on Upper Street.

I didn't eat there as eatin' is cheatin'.

In all an OK pub

25 May 2006 11:46

The Boat House, Chertsey

A sanitised hotel rather than a pub, however, the service we got was pretty good and the food wasn't bad either.

17 May 2006 16:36

The Parade Bar, Bath University

It is an OK pub, a fair balcony area with views over the campus

18 Sep 2005 16:19

Porter, Bath

An OK pub, but what on earth is the point of the rabbit food?

18 Sep 2005 16:17

The Pig and Fiddle, Bath

A quality pub with a great range in burgers of all sorts of different meat. I really, really like this pub.

18 Sep 2005 16:15

The Old Green Tree, Bath

A tiny, but good pub - I will definitely pop in again when next in Bath.

18 Sep 2005 16:13

The Huntsman Inn, Bath

Used to be a good pub, but what the hell is going on with the refurb? It looks like a tart's boudoir! I don't think I have seen so much foliage in a pub ever before.

18 Sep 2005 16:11

The Grapes, Bath

I think this pub is a bit of a gem - the food is very cheap, but i felt the quality was pretty good.

18 Sep 2005 16:09

Flan O'Briens, Bath

A fair "Irish" pub. Guinness isn't bad, but not Excellent.

18 Sep 2005 16:07

The Boater, Bath

Despite having doormen there are huge quantities of dubiously aged (u18) teens in the cellar bar and beer garden - Otherwise a good pub.

18 Sep 2005 16:06

The Alehouse, Bath

The cellar bar is tops - decorated with posters from the mid-90s. watch out for the low doorways - I hit my head several times the other night.

18 Sep 2005 16:04

Pitcher & Piano, Nottingham

Didn't seem to have a problem with the door men and i was in a stag night party of about 20. Amazing venue for a pub and it has been pretty well done, but at the end of the day it is STILL a Pitcher and Piano.

2 Sep 2005 21:14

Hooters, Nottingham

I have been to Nottingham three times, and each of my visits have included a stop in this godforsaken place. OK it is a place where birds with good figures serve food and drink in tight fitting shorts and t-shirts, but this place is pretty crappy. Best avoided, unless on a stag night.

2 Sep 2005 21:11

Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, Nottingham

I had heard a lot about this pub before my recent excursion to Nottingham. To say that I was pleased with what I had found is an understatement. It was a hot afternoon when we popped in a few drinks - the garden area was ratherer busy, but the cave area was cool and empty. Superb - far better than most of the chain pubs that seem to cover all towns in this country like a rash.

2 Sep 2005 21:07

The Bell Inn, Nottingham

Quality old boozer which does a superb pint of "Dark".

2 Sep 2005 21:03

The Hook, Line and Sinker, Twickenham

An OK pub, very much similar to a lot of other pubs in Twickenham. Can't really understand why the drinks are so expensive bearing in mind that there is so much competition around and that this pub doesn't stand out from the crowd

27 Aug 2005 10:40

The Lot, Richmond

I forgot to mention that it was far better in the mid 90's as a Firkin.

31 Jul 2005 14:57

The Lot, Richmond

Friendly service, but this is a pub for kids (like all Scream pubs). Stuffy as hell inside and playing really load "rawk" on the video-jukebox. I always try a shy away from pubs that advertise the drink prices like a Petrol Station advertises its petrol prices.

31 Jul 2005 14:56

Studio 6, South Bank

Certainly a more restauranty vibe to this place. Still a fairly good bar.

31 Jul 2005 14:51

The Minnow, Weybridge

Visited this pub mid-week evening, seemed to be full of people that were glammed up to the nines. Does a large range of beers including the super-tasty hangover juice Erdinger. The service is a bit ropey, but the location is good.

31 Jul 2005 14:48

The Armstrong Gun, Englefield Green

An old-fashioned boozer, which upon further inspection seems like a labyrinth. Big beer garden and friendly locals.

31 Jul 2005 14:42

The Barley Mow, Englefield Green

Seems like a good location to have a drink on a sunny afternoon, the staff were a little too surly for my liking though, apart from that an OK pub.

31 Jul 2005 14:39

Fluid, Clerkenwell

Cool bar does Kirin lager, which always goes down well. I popped in on a Tuesday and for a while before heading off for a curry down the road; it was pretty quiet, but it was a Tuesday. Loads of seating available.

31 Jul 2005 14:37

St Margarets Tavern, St Margarets

A deceptively large pub, which in essence has a bar area and a lounge/eating area. It appears to have been done well - the eating area was a little too crowded with tables, but the place was heaving (for a week night). I think I would have prefered to have stayed in the bar area, but my friends were already firmly ensconced in the far corner of the lounge/eating area. I will definitely come back to this pub in future.

9 Jun 2005 21:25

The Red Lion, Twickenham

Could do with a lick of paint, but it is OK.

17 May 2005 10:54

Light Bar, Shoreditch

Trendy bar - worth going with a large group of people as the service is very slow. They do quite a selection good bottled beers - I like the Meantime Brewery's Union.

17 May 2005 10:51

The Jolly Coopers, Hampton

Friendly, welcoming pub which is perfect for a drink in a relaxed atmosphere.

17 May 2005 10:32

Bar Estilo, Teddington

More of a restaurant than a bar or pub. Decentish food, but not a place i would go to drink.

3 May 2005 13:59

The Park Lodge Hotel, Teddington

Highly over-priced mediocre food, ok beer. Give it a miss, there are loads of better places to go in Teddington.

3 May 2005 13:58

The Stone House, Hampton Hill

Annoying plasma screens that play music videos whilst the pub has loud pumped music that is not related to the video playing, this is rather distracting. I don't go to pubs to watch bad pop videos of Girls Aloud and their evil ilk. Cheap happy hour drinks on Sun-Thur though.

3 May 2005 13:55

The Flower Pot Hotel, Sunbury on Thames

I have had to reassess this pub, it is a lot better than it used to be but the service that I got was rather confusing, on ordering a Guinness, a Strongbow, a large white wine and a bitter shandy I got a Guinness, a Strongbow, a small red wine and a lager shandy; I have put this down to it being a bad day for the barmaid, she was very apologetic about itand resolved the problem quickly.

3 May 2005 13:45

Quinn's, Camden

A quality late night/ early morning boozer. I have been coming here for years, it has a superb selection of beers from Belgium and Germany along with all the usual suspects that you would find in any other pub in the country (Stella, Fosters, Strongbow etc).

3 May 2005 13:38

The Albany, Twickenham

I feel this pub has been done up rather well. I was glad to see that the pub had not been turned into flats, as a lost pub is a sad thing. Far, far better than the rough old Albany. Staff were friendly and the beer wasn't bad either.

3 May 2005 13:34

The Fox, Twickenham

A old-style pub without being an old man pub. An unassuming, unpretentious boozer. I like it.

25 Apr 2005 11:06

The Railway Bell, Hampton

Quiet pub, one of the better pubs in Hampton in fact. Better in the summer for the outdoor drinking, the inside is ok, but for some reason has laminate "wood" flooring.

25 Apr 2005 11:01

The Bull, Islington

A pub with a large selection of beers from all over the world. Can get very crowded and take a while to get served, but the range of beers makes this worthwhile. My advice: get there early to get a seat or you ill end up standing all night.

25 Apr 2005 10:58

The Up'n'Under, Twickenham

I am inclined to believe that "anonymous" and "Divdavs" are the same person, most probably the bar manager/landlord. Either way it is besides the point. The Up 'n' Under is an OK pub, it wasn't a bad Hogshead when it first opened, but has been through some shockingly bad refits in its time.

The service is never great and the beer somewhat variable in quality, but it isn't the worst pub in Twickenham by a long way.

5 Apr 2005 16:10

The Bell Inn, Hampton

This pub has been ruined by a refit - who would have thought this pub would have been better by doing the refit?

5 Apr 2005 13:47

The Sun, Richmond

I got wasted in this pub, the service was rubbish (the pub would be rated much higher otherwise), so I nicked a glass.

5 Apr 2005 13:44

The Rose and Crown, Feltham

This pub has the most potential of all the pubs in Feltham. It is big inside and could cater for a variety of people's tastes. However, like all the other pubs in Feltham none of that potential has been realised. A waste of a pub - a decent pub in Feltham is something that is needed.

5 Apr 2005 13:28

The Three Kings, Twickenham

I have walked passed this pub many times, it used to be a dark, but busy looking hostelry. When I decided to visit this place on Saturday I found it had been refurbed, badly and cheaply. This is now a blandly decorated, bright pub with a few rugby shirts on the wall (after all it is in Twickenham). The Saturday night atmosphere was non-existent and I felt the barmaid thought it was a chore to serve me a pint. Suffice to say that I will continue to walk on by in future.

5 Apr 2005 13:11

The Blue Anchor, Richmond

Strange pub for Richmond, this boozer would be much more at home in a more run-down part of town. Seemed harmless enough, but I won't be rushing back.

29 Mar 2005 12:27

The White Hart, Sherfield on Loddon

A Young's pub, which is rather good. A friendly welcome and good food (as well as the beer). Good size beer garden is great for outdoor drinking.

29 Mar 2005 10:34

The Four Horseshoes, Sherfield on Loddon

Friendly welcome to this traditional establishment. Not in the finest condition, but a decent pub regardless.

29 Mar 2005 10:10

Shaftesbury Arms, Richmond

Half old pub, half brightly lit Thai restaurant - not a great pub, but adequate if you ignore the restaurant.

21 Mar 2005 11:37

The Hope, Richmond

I had a great pint of Guinness here on St Patrick's Day just gone - a good atmosphere, possibly not like this everyday, but still was good fun.

21 Mar 2005 11:35

The Mallard, Teddington

Quality traditional pub as it should be - welcoming and friendly, a large selection of decent music on the jukebox.

12 Mar 2005 10:34

The Prince Alfred, Maida Vale

Authentic Victorian pub as it should be. Although I am not too sure about the posh, brightly lit eatery at the back. Good beer and quite fun otherwise. Check it out - at least for the snugs.

10 Mar 2005 13:44

The Adelaide, Teddington

Pretty much all you can ask a pub to be, serves good beer, including a tasty pint of porter. I will definitely make a return trip in the future. Plenty of seating including some extremely comfotable leather sofas next to a fireplace - that makes the place very warm and welcoming.

4 Feb 2005 13:36

The Sorting Room, Twickenham

Horrific pub - lacking atmosphere and has a large array of flat screen TVs psychedelically advertising their cheap drink offers. Full of kids boozed up on the alcopops. Best left alone.

18 Jan 2005 09:43

The Admiral Nelson, Whitton

Used to be a good pub, now it is a pub worth missing - far below average - go to the White Hart.

17 Jan 2005 11:50

Orange Tree, Richmond

Good pub and ambiance welcoming - beer is OK. However the lighting is verging on a little on the bright side. Still i have many a good time here.

20 Dec 2004 09:24

The Warrington Hotel, Maida Vale

When i was a student in the late 1990's I used to visit this fine establishment regularly - I never really considered myself as lucky to live so close to such a top pub. Now I realise how fortuitous I was.

The Warrington is a superb pub with original Victorian features. Cracking Thai food in the restaurant upstairs. The beer is good and ambiance was smashing.

Saturday night just gone (18/12/04) was karaoke night which usually fills me with dread and conjures up images of drunk women wailing Gloria Gaynor's "I will survive" however even the karaoke was done well (as is everything else in this pub) and everyone was singing along.

This is about as close to pub perfection that you can get.

20 Dec 2004 09:18

Bar Casa, Kingston Upon Thames

This bar was the scene of the lamest night out that I have ever had. I was given the impression that the bar was open late and a friend decided to have his birthday drinks there (git). I got to this hellhole at about 9:30pm, had two pints and found that the bar shut at 11:00pm and they were militant at getting people out of the bar at 11:20pm. The service was particularly slow, bad and not cheap at 3+ for a pint of lager, they also give you your change on a silver plate (cos i am really likely to leave a tip for a round that i have paid through the nose for and took an eon to get to me) I thought that we were treated rather badly, as the staff were rude when I pointed out it was only 1115, when they were eject all punters from the premises.

I don't understand why these bars are popular; it is hardly like you feel like you have arrived somewhere special when you walk in. This is an abomination of a place; the bar is full of white-shirted men and hoop-earringed slappers.

9 Dec 2004 10:35

The Alexandra, Norbiton

I visited this pub on Saturday night (20/11/04); I found the place to have been tastefully decorated and NOT the sort of striped floorboards I was expecting, from the previous reviews. The beer was good and the welcome friendly.

If I lived anywhere near here I would be very pleased to have this place as my local.

26 Nov 2004 16:38

The Mash Bar, Oxford Circus

Quality beers made on site at the microbrewery - can take a while to get served unless you are skilled at the art of pushing-in. Could be perceived as at the poncier end of the pub spectrum, but the quality beer more than makes up for this.

10 Nov 2004 12:14

The Green Man, Hatton

Dear Jules, firstly my I congratulate you on having generous punters. However, i am concerned at the fact that you are more bothered about which part of West London your pub is situated than the quality of the beer. I think this says it all. By the way from experience the beer is crap.

5 Nov 2004 13:53

Hudsons Wine Bar, Putney

As pubs and wine bars go this is fine - very much like a restuarant - does a very good happy hour.

2 Nov 2004 18:29

The Station, Stoneleigh

Acceptable chain pub - not one of the finest establishments in the world, but the staff were friendly and the food was fine. Like all Barras pubs the food is exceptionally cheap and the beer is reasonable priced.

29 Oct 2004 09:19

The Dukes Head, Putney

Great for drinking in the summer by the riverside, but also a great pub in the winter. Essentially this pub has three drinking areas, the front area with the TV screens for sport, the middle and back bars for drinking and eating - very relaxing and a pleasant place to be. I was there yesterday (Thursday night) and did not see this Antipodean Rugger Bugger element that a few fellow reviewers have mentioned. The staff were friendly and the beer was not massively over-priced considering it is Putney.

29 Oct 2004 09:15

The Running Horse, Sunbury on Thames

A poor excuse of a pub with a strange collection of pikey punters - a little like the nearby Hare and Hounds. This pub is harmless enough though, it is OK for a quick pint before going to the local curry house (Curry Nights) which is superb.

18 Oct 2004 13:53

The Eel Pie, Twickenham

A superb pub with a difficult, but thankfully brief pub quiz on a Thursday night. Great range of beers. I could see no chavs in this pub - which is always a good thing.

4 Oct 2004 15:29

The White Swan, Richmond

A gem of a pub. I visited the White Swan on Saturday afternoon and had a very relaxing afternoon in this pub. The barman did seem to struggle with an order of four drinks, but the pub was welcoming and although they did not have a jukebox the music was very good too. We didn't eat there, but I can tell by the care and attention paid to all the other areas of this pub the food would be superb. A top pub to relax in on a weekend afternoon.

4 Oct 2004 15:25

The Moon Under Water, Hounslow

This is a Wetherspoon's pub - so like all pubs in the chain it does cheap booze. This seems to attract the all-day-every-day drinker in Hounslow - I haven't a clue where they get their beer money from. It is an OK pub, the problem is with the whole chain - you could be anywhere in Britain in this pub - it seems to lack any sort of spirit that makes a pub visit special. But after a few pints of the guest ales you won't care where you are.

29 Sep 2004 13:33

Yates's, Hounslow

It's a Yates's - 'nuff said

21 Sep 2004 21:31

The Wishing Well, Hounslow

This is amongst the best pubs in Hounslow - which doesn't mean that it is any good, there is a Thai restaurant at the back, but this means that the non-Thai food served is now minging. Service is slow and there is always that something in the air that you get in Hounslow that it is all about to kick-off big style. When England beat Switzerland in Euro2004, there was a fight between some of the local chavs that lurk at the front of the bar.

21 Sep 2004 21:30

The Jack Horner, Tottenham Court Road

this pub has been rubbish for years - it lacks any kind of atmosphere.

21 Sep 2004 21:17

Fitzroy Tavern, Fitzrovia

quality boozer as it should be - a busy pub can be a good thing, this pub is busy for a reason, it's a good pub. Great pint of stout too!

21 Sep 2004 21:15

The Dover Castle, Marylebone

A hidden gem - medium sized pub in a back street - I think I would kill to live a stumbling distance from a pub like this.

19 Sep 2004 12:14

The Cock, Oxford Circus

Big pub - a pub as it should be, friendly welcome and loads of seating, quality brews.

19 Sep 2004 12:12

The Bricklayers Arms, Fitzrovia

Top pub with the usual selection of quality ales from the Sam Smith's brewery. A little on the small side but this just adds to the charm.

19 Sep 2004 12:09

The Bell Inn, Hampton

I forgot to mention good pub grub too.

7 Sep 2004 22:33

The Magpie, Sunbury on Thames

Not the worst pub in Sunbury but certainly not worth 7/10, does reasonable food, the staff are not the greatest and the punters are generally knobs.

3 Sep 2004 14:03

The White Horse, Sunbury on Thames

This is an old man's pub to the extreme. Friendly enough place and some exceptionally strange jukebox choices are available e.g. Mike Oldfield's Moonlight Shadow. It is a little run-down but it is a good pub to go to for a reality check. It has a pool table that is usually availble.

3 Sep 2004 13:57

The Phoenix, Sunbury on Thames

I like drinking in the summer sunshine - this pub is good in this respect as it has a large beer garden that goes stright down to the Thames. The beer is fine and the service usually friendly - i had one weird encounter a while back, but that is a long story, and i have not seen that particular barman in there for a while. It ain't too big inside and the area around the pool table can get a little crowded at times. In general a good pub.

3 Sep 2004 13:50

The Court, Tottenham Court Road

It is a Scream pub so it is aimed at students - pretty much best avoided, unless you are well wasted. Does very reasonable and cheap food.

3 Sep 2004 13:36

The Jeremy Bentham, Bloomsbury

I went to the JB last night - I studied at UCL a few years ago now and this pub is still good - it does a simple formula well done, there was no food available, but i was only really here for the beer. Good proper pub pub with friendly staff.

3 Sep 2004 13:33

The Hare and Hounds, Sunbury on Thames

This is a mammoth pub which has some much potential - the problem is none of this potential makes up for the absolute sham of a pub. The punters are terrifying.

31 Aug 2004 14:19

The Flower Pot Hotel, Sunbury on Thames

Looks like a tart's boudoir inside - which is a shame as it used to be a good pub - if the refurb had been done with some conisderation i would have rated this pub as at least a 6/10

31 Aug 2004 14:16

The Three Fishes, Sunbury on Thames

Reasonably good atmosphere and cheap beer - although I was rather scared by the unfeasibly large man playing darts.

31 Aug 2004 14:14

The Bridge Inn, Isleworth

A good pub for waiting for (and missing) trains home. Always very welcoming atmosphere, cheapish jugs of beer too.

31 Aug 2004 14:11

The Admiral Hawke, Sunbury on Thames

I like this pub - although the newer restaurant bit at the side can be a little isolated - but the grub and the beer is good, the atmosphere is usually very welcoming.

31 Aug 2004 14:06

The Grey Horse, Sunbury on Thames

OK pub with tiny and rather uncomfortable chairs - not really a pub that you would want to stay in all night though.

31 Aug 2004 14:04

Duke of Clarence, Hampton Hill

Not a great selection of beer, but this tiny pub is ideal for having a few cheeky ones mid-week.

31 Aug 2004 14:02

The Bell Inn, Hampton

A decent pub with a very decent curry house just next door. A reasonable selection of beers, lagers and ales. A large car park at the rear that doubles up as beer garden. Quite a warm welcome.

31 Aug 2004 13:56

The Winning Post, Whitton

Strange pub - seems to be in competiton with the Beefeater chain although, when I was there on Sunday night they had a very loud and very bad Karaoke night.

31 Aug 2004 10:49

The Mill, Mill Hill

Seems like an inoffensive pub - I went there yesterday evening (August Bank Holiday Monday) for a light bite to eat and a couple of drinks with a friend who lives nearby. As it had been a long weekend there was a lot of food off the menu - beer was good and the staff were very friendly, however the atmosphere was somewhat lacking and the decor seemed sanitised like a lot of these newer pub chains. Apparently, they have two quiz nights a week, so it may be worth checking out, if that rings your bell.

The Royal Oak, Hampton

This pub is an unwelcoming venue, if ever there was one - I only used to go there as I used to live on this street and it was a good place to meet up with friends and start the evening as all pubs nearby are better than this one (apart from The Swan).

Bar TW3, Hounslow

This pub is RUBBISH - it used to be an Edwards Pub and things have not got any better. I don't really understand this pub chain, it is not like TW3 is a desirable location to be in. This place is like the rest of Hounslow: full of clueless idiots and wannabes.

The Fox and Hounds, Battersea

I used to live down the street from this pub, I love it - good beer and ambience and high quality, fit barmaids. The food looked good, but could be deemed to be a little too poncy for most palets and pockets. I don't know if this has changed since I have not been there recently, but they used to keep to the old opening hours (closing after lunch and re-opening at 5pm) I strolled in at around 5pm to be surprised by being the only punter!

The Prince Blucher, Twickenham

I have now been back to this pub after the refurb. It has been carried out tastefully and not like the owners have been down to Ikea, like all the new identi-kit pubs that seem to be all over the place - that makes me mad, GRRR!

The Cricketers, Richmond

I like drinking outside and this pub is one of the best in Richmond for this - the riverside in Richmond (whilst they are fun to people watch) can be a little too hectic on a good day. This is great for having a good pint and sitting on the Green in the sun. In the winter can be good fun too.

The Britannia, Richmond

This pub is hidden away in a small alley (Brewer's Lane) that joins George Street to Richmond Green, looks tiny from the outside, but leads to a fair sized beer garden and roof terrace - the food is good and the range of beer plentiful - they do Desperados Tequila Beer - so watch out

The Barmy Arms, Twickenham

Twickenham seems to have many pubs that are great for drinking in the open air, The Barmy Arms is one of them. Loads of outside space and riverside drinking - the place is always buzzing after a big match at the rugby, but can also be good for just drinking on a Saturday night.

The Prince Blucher, Twickenham

This is one of the best pubs in South West London. Good beers and a superb atmosphere combine to make this a winner on many fronts. Something for everyone, a big TV for the sports and a massive garden great for drinking in the sunshine

The John Snow, Soho

This pub is great - i have been a few times over the past few years - cheap good qualty beers of all shape and form. Everything a good pub should be, although the loos are a very long way from the upstairs bar.

The Toucan, Soho

I went to The Toucan for a few drinks on my birthday - it was so much fun I stayed all night - the basement bar is tiny, like upstairs, but much more fun.
