The Fulflood Arms, Winchester

A pleasure to visit on Saturday - only a few people in, but all friendly. Good beer, despite being from the GK stable. I had very tasty LBW for the firt time. They're giving food a try now and it was fresh and delicious, in addition to being VERY cheap. Hope this keeps up, together with he good supply of newspapers and polite bar staff.

The Hyde Tavern, Winchester

Just perfect - a quiet pub away from the visiting crowds - and the landlady seems to positively welcome middle-aged gentlmen who enjoy good beer in a relaxed environment!! I hope to return. No need to serve food in a good pub, just stick to the beer is a formula that seems to work.

Jolly Miller, Fareham

An etate pub which doesn't look promising from the outside. Friendly staff serving the usual Greene King ales, albeit in v.good condition. I've called there twice now and really like the home-made rolls they sell on Sat lunch-time. Worth calling if you're in the area, or looking at cars in the dealership round the corner!!

The Chapel Arms, Southampton

A very friendly welcome early on a Saturday lunchtime, when I was walking around Southampton. No football on that day, but this felt very much like a locals pub and the overall atmosphere was one which encouraged me to return. Don't knock it, its the pick of the bunch in the area.

The Brunswick Inn, Derby

It grieves me to agree with everything said previously about this pub (not always true on BITE). I was very happy to get a 2hour wait for a train and try some flavoursome well-kept beer - also a good lunch. In particular, staff (both bar and kitchen) are patient and friendly with middle-aged, real ale loving customers. Look forward to next train trip via Derby!!

I was pleased to take shelter here after a deluge recently. And a wondrful pint of Timothy Taylor's Landord. Bliss!! Friendly people too!

Queens Arms, Basingstoke

I make a point of visiting this pub on each of my few viits to Basingstoke. Friendly staff, beer is always good and generally something I haven't tried before. Food quality is very good and - IMPORTANTLY - tastes fresh. Look forward to my next visit!!
