The Last Inn, Barmouth

Very friendly service and good pub grub although most of the menu does come with chips and it's not cheap at 13.50 for a lasagne. That said, the portions are so huge that you only have one course so the bill never hurts.
Unfortunately only one real ale, pedigree, which although not my favourite is kept well in my opinion.
Purely down to atmosphere alone this is the best pub in Barmouth by a long way and if you fancy a better choice of real ales you can always grab a couple down the Tal Y Don beforehand.

The Kings Arms Hotel, Cleobury Mortimer

Re-opened and now part-owned by Hobsons Brewery. Massively improved, nice inside, excellent ales and lagers. good for a sandwich at lunchtime too.

The Old Castle, Bridgnorth

Visited this pub again recently and found it much improved under the new owners. Lively with a good atmosphere and decent ale although quite limited selection being a tied pub. Worth a visit as better than most pubs in Bridgnorth.

The Unicorn Inn, Ludlow

We were expecting something a bit special after viewing the Unicorn's website. Unfortunately we were disappointed. At 20.50 for a fillet steak you would expect good service. At The Unicorn you get practically none. You have to order food at the bar, get your drinks re-filled at the bar and once our food was on the table we didn't see a soul. In fact, the whole place seemed to be run by two barmen in their 20's who seemed uncomfortable waiting (or not) tables. The food was ok although the Nut Roast was dry with too little sauce and the plum sauce with the duck was hard to find or taste. If it had been priced as bar food the lack of service wouldn't have been a problem but at over 100 for 2 courses for 4 when one of us wasn't drinking we expected to be looked after. It had a good selection of real ales, although the Black Sheep wasn't at it's best. We won't be rushing back.

The Castle Hotel, Bishop's Castle

I had a fantastic time here at the beer festival last year, hard to get food though without booking.

The Horseshoe Inn, Ledbury

Good beer and friendly service. Excellent pint of Landlord. Very nice beer garden at the back. Menu is a bit basic - gammon, steak, lasagne etc but my gammon was good with delicious home made onion rings. Unfortunately my girlfriends baked potato was really dry.

Badger Inn, Lelant

Touristy pub with over-priced menu. Carvery ok but avoid everything else.

The Red River Inn, Gwithian

Fantastic pub! A row of about 6 real ales that the friendly landlord is fanatical about. He even showed me his cellar! My girlfriend is normally a lager drinker but got pissed as a fart on the excellent Spitfire last time we were there and was converted when she woke up without a hangover! Excellent food, reasonably priced and very efficient, friendly service. So nice to see a pub run so well by obviously enthusiastic owners. Shame I only get to go there when we're on holiday.

The New Inn, Pembridge

lovely village, good black sheep ale. Cider served in big f-off jugs. good food. locals still not dead yet.

The Bear Inn, Bridgnorth

We went in for a drink after our christmas do and it was dead. really miserable bar lady had an 8 year old kid behind the bar who she kept loudly telling off. I can't even remember the beer I just wanted to get out.

The Swan Hotel, Bridgnorth

I had remembered this pub as being really good after a pub crawl. I must have been REALLY pissed. Real ale is awful and it is just grim.

Jewel Of The Severn, Bridgnorth

Good real ales but you ALWAYS have to wait at the bar for ages to get served. Food is plastic as you'd expect at Wetherspoons but hey, there's no McDonalds in Bridgnorth so it comes in handy. Grumpy, disinterested staff.

The Royal Fountain, Cleobury Mortimer

Decent real ale although last time I went only had 2 pale ales, think the other was off. Decent atmosphere but landlord can seem a little bit grumpy sometimes which can spoil it. Lovely woodburner and dog.

The Fighting Cocks, Stottesdon

Very Friendly, excellent beers always at least 3 real ales. Good locally sourced food. Live bands and events all year. A real community pub but not one that goes quiet when you walk in if you're an outziderr!
