The Pilot, Aldersley

This place used to be pretty poor. A bog standard pub. Over the last few years, new management and a bit of investment has turned it all round. Quality pub, nice decor and atmosphere and a great menu for the whole family. A true delight and it's on my doorstep.

Pennyblacks, Birmingham

A nice pub, but the choice of Real Ale is minimal and the beers they do have in costs a fortune. At about 4.80 a pint this is criminal. The staff are clueless and seem bored and put out if they have to serve a customer. The food is ridiculously priced as well, about £13.00 for a burger and fries, er, no thanks.
But as I said, it IS a nice pub, but it's a shame they charge so much for a pint.

The Shakespeare Inn, Birmingham

A horrid little hole of a pub. The people who generally frequent this place look right shifty. Not my type of pub. It's handy if you have to catch a train right after a pint, but then again you could go to the Chameleon round the corner which is an altogether more pleasant experience.

The Trocadero, Birmingham

Cheap beer, little effort put into running it these days. used to be a great bustling pub, now seems to be a bit grimy. They have live bands in there sometimes, the staff are up for a bit of banter and friendly. The toilet facilities leave a lot to be desired. However, I still like the place, it has a proper pub feel abouit it and it doesn't cost the earth unlike so many of Brums public houses.

The Codsall Station, Codsall

Great little pub crammed with railway memorabilia, not too dissimilar to the Great Western in Wolverhampton. Good family pub, friendly staff, good service and top quality real Ale, ie: Holdens. Also ideal to have a family meal.

The Rocket, Euston

I personally like this pub. a meal and a pint for under a tenner in London is almost unheard of. I'm no snob and the people who frequent this place are generally very friendly and chatty. I always go here when i fancy a cheap pint and I'm in Euston. It won't win any awards for being trendy, that's for sure, but it's great if you just fancy a couple of cheap pints and a game of pool and a natter. Pretentious it ain't - it's just an honest to goodness pub.

The Newhampton Inn, Whitmore Reans

Can get very busy of a weekend. Food is good if you like a good carvery. Beer choice is good and a good busy, friendly atmosphere. Good to go out to with the family for a few.

The Rock Hotel, Tettenhall

Top place for lunch. Good selection of beers, friendly staff. Quality affordable grub. Great vista of the city from the vantage point of the Beer Garden. Family friendly pub that does exactly what it says on the tin. I love it.

My local. it wasn't up to much about ten years ago, but is now a firm favourite. Quality Beer and top notch grub, great friendly atmosphere and staff are terriffic. I don't go here too often but when I do it never fails to deliver.

The Tap and Spile, Wolverhampton

What's supposed to be a quality ale pub is poor. I had only had half of my bitter before forcibly spewing it back up. The beer was so off it stank. Needless to say we abandoned and went elsewhere. Horrid clientele as well.

The Posada, Wolverhampton

What used to be a great pub is now an old mans pub, in dire need of a spruce up. Tiny place that has a lot of character, could just do with a bit of TLC. Beer is good though.

The Brasshouse, Birmingham

a new building aiming for a traditional feel, unconvincing and misses the mark. It's an ok pub, but would be near the bottom of my pub list in Brum. Pricey and the service is poor when the post-work rush begins. Quite pricey as well.

The Lost and Found, Birmingham

An okay place to go for a cheeky post-work pint. Not cheap, but always plenty of room. Could do with a spot of decorating and always seems to be a rendezvous point for illicit liaisons. At least it's quiet if you want to have a natter with a mate. (Maybe too quiet)

The Great Western, Wolverhampton

An excellent pub, bristling with heritage and quality beers. one of the few proper pubs in the area and much better than the Wetherspoons pap.

Food is what you'd expect, honest no-frills pub-grub.

Don't go on match days unless you like having to wait ages and not have much space to move about.

A nice pub to go to in the early evening for a nice relaxing pint of Holdens or Bathams, plus guest ales.

A 10/10 for being a true, proper pub.
