The Greyhound, Brentwood

Would say this is more restaurant than pub, however that is not a dig as the food was pretty bloody amazing and loved every mouthful.

Staff were all really lovely indeed and helpful and if it were summer months, setting would be amazing. I went on a miserable Sunday in November, however still lovely. Huge garden and good array of your typical beers, nice wine list too though.

Lovely, and look forward to seeing it again in summer months!

The Princess of Wales, Blackheath

Since I have lived in Blackheath (only for a year) but visiting for many, management has changed a few times and it always starts good but then gets complacent. By far the best located pub in SE, especially summer as you can sit on the heath. I do think it's a victim of it's own success, due to location.

Food is hit or miss, although the last few times I have been, it has been perfect. Often there on a Sunday or midweek and have had various parties there too. The staff are lovely but always understaffed, they will hopefully get this right with new owners! In summer it can be awful, at least 30 mins to get served and then no glass collectors, and when it's packed, it can be unbearable. However, just need more staff on hot days.

I will always love this place and will always go back as it's just lovely when it's good, but just OK when it's bad, which is no bad thing.

The Railway, Blackheath

Surprised by the medium/low score. I love this place. Staff are adorable, food is great, atmosphere is always perfect, location is perfect and whenever we get good weather, they have a nice little roof terrace. Nice live sets or quiz nights, just a perfect pub in my eyes.

Brannigans, Romford

Not sure if this hell hole exists? Nasty chain hole of pubs which is by far the worst in the world. I haven't been here in about 16 years, but had such an awful night, only a conversation made me come on and comment! A pub that doesn't care of it's patrons, a pub that is interested in making money and not cleaning the piss and sick ridden carpets. That employs aggressive door staff that get slobbered over by the tramps that go here. Should be razed to the ground

The Slug and Lettuce, Brentwood

Ideal if you like your bog standard chain pub that is brimming full of overdressed girls with bad attitude and their meat head agressive blokes that want to punch you in the head for being in the way of there place at the bar to get a WKD or aftershock.
Always always packed to the rafters. Nasty, horrible. May as well be a wetherspoon pub

The Essex Arms, Brentwood

Most unwelcoming locals only pub around

The Teriss Bar, Brentwood

I have always been a fan of the Teriss bar. It gets packed and queues to toilets can be stupid, along with trying to move outside, however these are minor quibbles to a really good pub that serves decent beer. Not rank stuff like carling and fosters.

Great place in the summer, if you get there early and get a space that is.

The Sugar Hut Village, Brentwood

Overpriced, poncy, tacky, vile staff, vile clientelle, pompous and home to Jodie Marsh.

Nuff said

The Eagle and Child, Shenfield

Good sized pub, nice food and a great beer garden.

It's a shame that the owners are horrible, and some of the bar staff are trained to be rude, unless you drink in there every day of your life, forget getting a smile.

The Litten Tree, Brentwood

Vile hell hole that I thought (and had hoped) most people stopped going to years ago so they could close it down.

Rank and rude staff that are always at least 5 years younger than you, snotty bouncers and moody angry shouty clientele who want to fight afetr doing there 8 shots of black sambuca at the bar, followed by 8 pints.

Pure class.

Hollands Wine Bar, Shenfield

Numerous changes of management over the years, the old days were the best, when it was dark and dingy. Most people feel that about anywhere though right?

Anyway, uber trendy now, especially for Shenfield, but that is no bad thing. Not as busy as it used to be, which is no bad thing, nice staff, comfy surroundings, nice beer and wine and great in the summer when they open up the front. Live music occasionally, which is great.

A great place to start (and finish) the the night or a few drinks from the rain home from work...

The Old Coffee House, Soho

Great old London Boozer.

Typical style old fashioned London pub as you would expect them 30 years ago that have not changed. Love it in here. Great friendly staff, rarely busy so you can't get served and a great atmosphere.

Skanky toilets, but so what. All toilets are aren't they!

The Sun and 13 Cantons, Soho

Busy busy busy media media media busy busy yah yah yah media.
Average pub, but gets so so busy on Thursday and Friday nights. Food (a year or so ago) was very average (when it was Thai) and not sure now. Quite pricey compared to other pubs that are similar.
Young crowd, mainly media daahlings, but can be fun.

The Glasshouse Stores, Piccadilly Circus

Used to be my work local for 5 very great years. Miss it lots.

Great staff that knew who you were, great beer (Fat man) and fun times.

Hope to make it my local again soon!

Busy on Thursday and friday nights, but always easy to get served. Great area downstairs for hire and also to go and hide in the coves or around the back!

The Royal George, Charing Cross Road

I would very much like to dismiss The Royal George, but I am there so much after work, it must be fairly good for me to keep going back.

Although management has changed (for the worse - bar manager doesn't know what a smile is) it's pretty standard for a west end pub. The food is above average and it's great for a lunch hour or mid week drink, but if you are thinking of going on a Friday, be warned, you can wait for a good 30 - 45 mins, particularly as bar is quite tiny compared to pub size and the inadequate bar staff seem capable of serving those in their direct eyeline and then get upset if you say who has been served in front of you.

Been going here for on and off 3 years, and staff still don't even crack a smile or recognise the regulars, odd for a pub that states they are friendly!

They do hold quiz nights, BBQ in the summer, film nights and other things, which shows they are trying. Try harder though and get some decent staff!

Bar Music Hall, Shoreditch

After having to spend 1 evening here recently, I thought I would add my own review as I heard many stories of the vile bar staff, rude bouncers and horrid clientele. Well, most is true, but still a good night out if you don't mind waiting up to 30 minutes to get a drink...

It was a very fun evening, walked in early when no door staff where there, got a place and was served by a miserable old trout at the bar, but hey, this is London, used to rude bar staff. Gradually got more and more packed throughout the evening, so much so it eventually took around 30 mins for each drink, unless you were a sexy girl, when the buff men at the bar would be happy to help.

Smokers beware. You can go out and come back in, but if it's busy, expect to have to queue a little while to get in, all fair I suppose, but not if they are leaving you out there for 15 minutes.

The mix of party goers is exactly that, a mix. Rocky grungers, pretentious wannabes and people out for fun. The majority is pretentious wannabes, but go with those you like so you can laugh at those that think they are it.

The bouncers are vile. Rude, aggressive, unhelpful and down right disrespectful. They just are, and for no reason. Guys you are not door staff at a celeb hangout, give it up and let people back in to collect their belongings at the end of the night!
