went in Saturday asked for a pint of Mild seeing as Hooky have just released a new mild EDM, ....no mild not even Hooky Dark.....had a pint of Bitter obviously the end of the barrell went back up bitter not back on yet, asked for a pint of 303, which resulted in a glass of foam ...Yes that barrell had gone as well, so here we are on a saturday evening Two pumps out of four out of action, bad planning by management or just bad luck on my part

The Alehouse, Reading

what a cracking pub first visit, unspoilt inside full of brewriana laid out inside with alcoves and snugs... friendly informative stafff who obviously love their beer,.... nine pumps offering 3 milds [ it is camra mild month] 5 bitters and a cider. tried a half from each pump and went back to a beer from the Welsh brewery "Purple Moose" called "The Dark Side Of The Moose" a rich dark ale 4.6 very moorish with a smokey aftertaste, then the Mrs came back and I had to go......but I will return

13 May 2010 20:00

The Swan, Banbury

Excellent evening last Saturday entertaining Karaoke, downside served two pints of Purity which were both pulled flat, [i.e. with the nozzle rightdown into the glass,] despite me pointing this out the second arrived in the same condition.all very well serving real ale ,but you need to train your staff in how to pull a good pint

4 Oct 2009 20:16

The Flowing Well, Banbury

Oh Dear Oh dear...this place has gone downhill......nowadays its a bit of a lottery if they have any real ale and somedays every other type of beer on offer .....they run out of beer, crisps, nuts etc on a regular basis and the place seems to be in a continuous state of painting and decorating and DIY
Used to be a predictable reliable pub but not any more I`m afriad

26 Apr 2009 17:04

Exchange, Banbury

if you want to get into this place you must first fight your way through the smokers stood on the steps and around the door....a disappointing Weatherspoons outlet full of the towns winos and because of the adjoining nightclub is the last stop for the clubbing set

26 Apr 2009 16:55

The Easington, Banbury

one of the best pubs in banbury for rotating guest ales....had an excellent pint of Adnams recently a real ale heaven

26 Apr 2009 16:49

The Wine Vaults, Banbury

when I moved to banbury 1981 this pub was a quirky atmospheric old style place...full of snugs and wood panelling which over the years has been removed bit by bit, which is a shame, the interior is now a mish mash of decor and frankly a mess.....however the real ales always seem to redeem the place....last night had a couple of excellent pints of St Edmunds a blonde draught ale from Green King at 4.2 It is very drinkable indeed

26 Apr 2009 16:45

The Easington, Banbury

Started using the place again...nice selection of beers on offer Greene King IPA nad Tim Taylor seems to be fixtures the two other pumps cahnge on a regular basis ....food good and not to long a wait

31 Jan 2009 19:01

The Woolpack, Banbury

TERRIBLE news....went in Thursday 29/1/09 and the landlady said the place is closing Saturday 31/1/09....what an awful piece of news..as far as I can gather there are no plans to replace the current landlords who are moving to London to run a pub...so the best real ale pub in Banbury is soon to be no more....tragedy :[

31 Jan 2009 18:53

Rylands, Banbury

As has been said before evenings can be LOUD....however if you choose your seat wisely you can find a SLIGHTLY quiter corner....good pint of Pedigree the Saturday I went in....used the place for a lunh meeting a few days later and it was much quieter ....food standard Weatherspoons fare......slight quirk ..the barstaff on each occasion I went in always took payment BEFORE dispensing your drinks

Been in two or three times in the last fortnight always at least 5 real ales on offer. residnet bitter appears to be Purity from nearby warwickshire plus four rotating others. Nice to see a dark mild on offer "Nailmaker" from Enville Ales at 4% a bit stronger than most dark milds....tried all beers on offer with their sip beffore you sup policy. All in tip top condition.
Menu a bit limited but food excellent, Occasional live music on offer too one of Banbury`s best kept secrets....not for too long though I suspect

Hook Norton and Boddingtons on draught in this busy one bar town centre pub very busy for food at lunchtimes so that tells you something...at nights it fills up and empties quickly as the pub crawlers wend their way around the town ......regulars all congregate to the left of the bar......still closes halfway through the afternoon so beware

15 May 2006 09:20

The New Flyer / Ye Olde Auctioneer, Banbury

In the Flying Horse days it was THE place...then they changed the name to the Auctioneer [why??] and the rot set in....till another revamp and rename as the New Flyer...it`s back on the right track again this landlord has shook the place up and it`s worth going in again....good live music local groups given a chance...a good night out

9 Apr 2006 15:46

Ye Olde Reindeer, Banbury

Well kept town centre pub at least four Hook Norton ales on tap plus an ever changing guest beer... over 21`s only hence the older drinkers use it as a meet and greet and move on pub then when the other pubs in the area get too loud, crowded and full of alcopopin` kids a welcome haven to finish off the night
