The Star Inn, Bentley

The Star has been through a fairly major overhaul this year and is much improved as a result. The best kept secret, however, is the little bistro/restaurant - it would not be an exaggeration to say that the food is simply fantastic.

Bull Inn, Bentley

Well done to the new owners of the Bull! Food & service very good (the HOT Sunday roasts are a welcome treat), the also server a decent pint of beer...

The Anchor Inn, Lower Froyle

We have been to this pub a couple of times now and apart from some shot found in my mother's game (meaning it is fresh and sourced in the way it should be!!!) we have had very pleasant experiences. The beer, wine and food is very good and priced in line with the decor and ambience. An altogether lovely, traditional and cosy pub.

The Chequers Inn, Well

I thought twice about eating in the Chequers given the mixed reviews of other subscribers to this site. However, having had drinks and dinner there last night I felt compelled (for the first time) to post my comments.

To my mind The Chequers is exactly as you imagine an english country pub to be. Warm, cosy and friendly - the beer was good too! We ate in the restaurant area which was comfortable, live music in the bar area added to the ambience without being overbearing. The service was good, despite the fact they were busy and the food was simply excellent.

I would recommend any doubters try for themselves.
