Scruffy Jacks, Sandown

Always worth a visit, brilliant staff and a great view of the beach etc. You can even order food from the cafe opposite and they serve it to you at your table in the bar. The whole Pier is great value for money and the pub is the icing on the cake :)

The Bugle Inn, Brading

Finally decided to visit this pub after spending a few years visiting the IOW. Went for Sunday lunch and I must say the food was excellent. Carvery-style and very very plentiful and satisfying. The only problem was was the staff... It felt like the manageress and her three young girl staff must have had the most horrific argument that morning and they all hated each other for some reason. Not only could you cut the atmosphere with a knife, the service was appalling. I even tried to say thankyou and goodbye to the manageress and she simply carried on making comments to a colleague and looked right through me. What an absolute shame especially as the IOW relies on the tourist trade and this level of service wont see me coming back.

Apple Tree, West Green

Lets get this place on the map!

Karaoke is every Thursday (courtesy of me) and its a great night. Often there are live acts on Saturdays and a great jam sesson on Wednesdays. Beer is good and hours flexible. Smoking arrangements are easy with direct access to the garden from the bar with a good layout etc.

See you there!?!??!?!

The Pelham Buckle, Crawley

Fairyairline, the pub has a great atmosphoere, I travel a few miles from home to drink there. I guess you must be worried about first impressions... Anyway, Karaoke is Friday nights and is a really good night. Saturdays, once a month is party night and we just had a Ska/two Tone bash that was excellent (last Sat). Yes, the footy crowd can make it a bit hostile at times but thats only because theres a great video system in there and people love to watch and shout! Its a members place but if you can get in with one then we'll be glad to see you there again :)

The Downsman, Southgate

To be honest, since the faceless 'manageress' has taken over, the place has ended up as a vastly understaffed and attitude-riddled hole. The quality of the food has gone downhill - badly. If you like to be surrounded by staff swearing constantly and sticky uncleared tables full of old glasses then this is for you. I used to respect this as my local but I'd rather drink my own piss to be honest.
