The Duke of Kent, Ealing

As a local resident I have watched with dismay at the ruination of this once great pub. We have constantly re-tried this pub in the hope that the new management might have sorted it out, but alas no.

I revisited yesterday with some out of town friends, even though we had previously black-listed this place. They were amazed by the look of the place, and I agreed, saying however that there is always something that ruins the experience. And it was no different again.

We arrived at around 2pm. We were informed that there were 0 roast dinners left by the female staff member. This was amazing, even to her, as the pub was not busy, and she admitted there were only 3 food tickets waiting to be prepared. Also amazing as they proclaim to "serve food all day".

There was also to be over a one hour wait for any other menu item. How this could be so with so few people eating I dont know.

We immediately gave up and went to another establishment. As someone else states in another review, they are clearly not prepared to serve the people that come.

rated this 0, would have given the staff 1 point for being honest, but its just not enough anymore.

do yourself a favour and avoid completely.

The Barley Mow, Shoreditch

Nice on the outside, and an old man grittiness on the inside, but thats about as good as it got. The choice of beer was good, but the Adnams was horrible and the Pride not much better. The bar girl needs a lesson in how to poor a pint of Guinness. Two old blokes at the bar who were nice enough to tell us what they thought of us visiting "their bar". Plenty of better pubs in the area.

Crown, Cuddington

Had a fantastic lunch here today. Lamb roast to die for, one of the best i've experienced in years. Lovely quaint pub, nice atmosphere, and excellent staff who are fun and friendly.

Lost a point for being a Fullers pub with an average selection of beers. Otherwise this place is near on perfect for a Sunday lunch.

Highly recommend it.

The Plough Inn, South Ealing

Nice little pub for a summer evening drink, with a large beer garden out the back. Nice cold beer, and not bad prices either.

The food is pretty awful though, the steak although reasonably priced was like hacking through tyres and was incorrectly cooked by the "new chef", the pasta special was anything but special, and half of the rest of the menu was unavailable. Eat before you go.

Nothing spectacular here, if it wasnt for the beer garden and cold beer, i wouldn't bother.

The Cross Keys, Covent Garden

An interesting little place with a nice outdoor area and interesting people. Dont go here if you are in a hurry, or any time on Friday... you will wait ages for any service and could possibly die of thirst, and ordering food can be a hit-and-miss affair. But worth a stop any other time.
