The Windmill, York

Conveniently located near the station and Micklegate make this a good place to start a pub crawl.
The place is bright and airy and comes alive when a match is being shown.

The Lowther Hotel, York

The prices in this pub are excellent and the atmosphere on a weekend second to none. Would recommend the "Slush Puppy-like" vodka flavour slushes that are made.

Two bars and a wide variety of different people make this one of the best pubs in York.

And if this wasn't enough there is a late license as well. Rather spend saturday in the Lowther than across the road at a well known chain pub and would have more fun doing so also.

The Knavesmire, York

A pub with an "L" shaped pool table as well as a more traditional one.

Plays both football and rugby games and is an excellent place for getting over a saturday night hangover.

Flares, York

If you are prepared to enter in to the spirit of the evening you will be guaranteed a fun night out.

Where else could you dress in an afro wig and not feel out of place because everyone else is wearing one too.
Plays sixties and seventies music and offers an opportunity to tone-up on your dance moves (or try to)

Old Orleans, York

Went in and there was a live band band playing.

Wide choice of cocktails and shooters. Would recommend the Dennis the Menace but stay well clear of the one with tabasco sauce.

Certificate 18, York

Really good crowd of people frequent this pub. Attitudes are left at the door.
I would recommend goin on a tuesday night when there are a team of djs playin their own taste in music.

Good selection of drinks, a juke box and widescreen tv

The Evil Eye Lounge, York

Wide selection of drinks and cocktails. A good bar to go to before goin out to a club.

However, there tends to be a bit of snobbery on behalf of the bouncers and bar people if you turn up wearing any colour other than black. Waited over 20minutes to get served and by the time I spoke to someone it was closing.

The Hansom Cab, York

meet a romanian and a guy who could mimick famous singers. Very entertaining night out. Goes away from the trend of shiny metal and designer interiors and this is where its advantages lay.

The Crystal Palace, York

The Crystal Palace is an excellent place to go for a quiet drink. The pub holds regular quiz nights and boasts both a darts board and pool table.
The drinks are very cheap and I've always come away from this place with spare money in my pocket.

The landlord and landlady are the perfect hosts and I felt very welcome.

Keystones, York

Used to drink here while a student at York St John. There is generally a good fun atmosphere, probably enhanced by the number of attractive women in on a normal weekday.
The juke box has a wide range of songs and plays videos at the same time as the song.
The bar staff are friendly and seem to enjoy what they are doing. One negative, on busy nights the landlord patrols the door and seems to have a bad attitude which really lets down an otherwise fantastic venue.
