The Anchor Bleu, Bosham

Agree with other comments re the food. They really don't know what they are doing. And such a pity for a pub in this fantastic location.

The bitter was fine so I recommend drinking there rather than eating.

Also one of the guys behind the bar was just plain rude and uninterested. Guaranteed to keep customers away. I will keep trying in case things improve

Park Tavern, Chichester

An excellent pub. Good Gales and other bitters - four in all I think - and really good food. I haven't tried the Thai range on the menu because the ribeye steak sandwich is SO good and I end up having it each time.

Only one problem with the pub - you can't see the cricket pitch on the other side of the road cos of the hedge!! Otherwise not a lot wrong here. Nice landlord - seriously concerned to see that you are a happy customer

The Drunken Duck Inn, Barngates

This is currently my favourite pub bar none - based on a visit in May 2004. Given a location like this it would be difficult to fail. Wonderful views from the benches over the road from the pub looking out over the lake district. Their beer is wonderful - Catnap being my favourite - fantastic flavour without being too strong.

Just the beer and location would make this a nine out of ten but when you sample the food....Simply the best meal (evening) I have had in many years. Don't miss the Australian desert wine - the white one called something like orange muscat!!! Thank you Erwin for treating us to such a wonderful meal.

I hope to be back there in 2006 and will file a new report then.

One warning. If you smoke (like I did then - have since given up) make sure you bring enough cigs with you as they don't sell them - we walked all the way to the nearest pub - which was closed - and then all the way back the Talbot to buy a packet!!!

The Hautboy Inn, Ockham

My rating for this pub is based on the same experinces as "anonymous" since I was a sort of regular (commuting in from Ashtead and Leatherhead) about 28 years ago. I don't claim to have been there since then. But just the location and fantastic building - where the pub is located on the first floor - make it a pub not to miss.

Do they still have a parrot in the bar???

The Kings Arms, Arundel

I have been to all the pubs in Arundel (my mum lives there) and this one serves the best beer without a doubt. HIGHLY impressed by the Grand Union Gold - the closest I have got to my favourite beer - Catnap at the Drunken Duck in Cumbria.

A straightforward, no frills, english pub. More dogs than customers (allergics beware) and a one-legged very friendly landlord add to the pubs special character. Have not tased the food but am in love with the beer........I shall return!!!

The Hole In The Wall, Chichester

Recemtly changed hands I was told last weekend. Excellent Ruddles County. Changed to Greene King IPA which was totally off - but all credt to staff - no argument - and back to the County.....

Apart from the reasl ale all the food is all under 2 quid 50p - at least at lunchtime which is amazing. The scampi and chips was fine. Friendly staff - nice location down a side street near the centre.
