Royal Artillery Arms, Highbridge

Visited as part of CAMRA passport "crawl".
3 ales on, a bit cloudy, lighting inside very low - looked like a pub on the downward slide, cutting all possible costs - this bloody recession is getting everyone.

The Crossways Inn, Highbridge

Dark, dismal, badly kept (very cloudy) ale. 'Nuff said.

The Thatchers Arms, Bridgwater

Small, cosy, sleeping dogs, great beer, just super.
In the area there are 4 pubs who keep good beer - The Thatchers, The George, The Alfred and the Halfway Inn - everything else in the area ain't worth a visit - trust me on this one!!!!

The Bower Inn, Bridgwater

closed now.

Cobblestones Inn, Bridgwater

Dunwear/Bridgewater - Schmozzle/shnozzle - all still the same backside of the universe. The Halfway is close to Bridgwater and serves a decent pint. Who cares if it's in or out of the official boundaries of Bilgewater? Sometimes the George in Middlezoy has a decent pint, but it generally suffers from a lack of pipe cleaning.

The Castle Inn, Dover

The pub was put up for sale today as a development site.

The Armoury Inn, Yeovil

I was pleasantly surprised. Good beer and no sense of regulars' hostility to newbie. Will go again

The Cross Keys, Norton Fitzwarren

Was taken here for a business lunch by a customer on the Trading estate (or should I say the demolition site!). OK as these sort of pubs go. Nothing there that would take me back of an evening.

Staplegrove Inn, Taunton

Saw it had undergone a repaint - all white now.
Been years since I was in and can only say it was worse than before. Unfriendly.

The Halfway Inn, Dunwear

yoyo, what a tosser - why not visit the pubs you comment on?
For your info, I have 3 reviews at the moment with more to come as I travel round the southwest on business.
You really are a sad individual.

Crown Inn, Goldsithney

I just wouldn't want to go back. Beer is poor, food is poor, staff are vaguely hostile and other customers are non-existant.
Avoid

Falmouth Packet Inn, Penzance

Great pub. No children after 8.00, the non-intrusive music is blues/jazz, the St Austell beer is good. Landlord's a bit grumpy, but a welcoming sort. Will go again.

The Halfway Inn, Dunwear

Super pub, good food, friendly welcome. Worth a visit. The Sunday carvery is exceptional, but booking is a must.
