Off The Rails, Weston Super Mare

Found this by accident, got to the station to find my train was delayed by nearly 30 mins - then spotted this little haven, a lovely place to spend a quick half hour with a pint of lovely cider and the newspaper. Could not have asked for more in the circumstances

24 Feb 2015 20:26

The Spread Eagle, Croydon

A rare 8/10 from me. Lovely pub, bar stuff are very friendly, and the Fullers ales are, as always, top notch. Sad as it is for someone brought up as a young's fan, but Fuller's rule the roost nowadays.

13 Jul 2014 18:19

The Ship, Croydon

Did not give this a rating as I didnt go past looking in the door. Not my sort of place from the interior and the clientele, mauch better to be found round the corner in the Spread Eagle

3 Oct 2013 20:11

The Dog and Bull, Croydon

Loved this pub back in the 80s and 90s, but......the place looks the same, which is good, the prices however... yowser! £4.85 for a Ram & Special? Sheesh, it is back to the Royal Standard for me

3 Oct 2013 20:08

The Surbiton Flyer, Surbiton

Have always taken previous views on how expensive this pub is with a pinch of salt. But £4.50 for a bottle of ESB - thats around 15% more expensive than I pay in Central London Fuller's pubs. As for the supercilious staff.....

The Mad Bishop and Bear, Paddington

Well maidavale, you seem to like this pub so much, you keep coming back even when the beer is bad, you are allegedly shortchanged etc. There must be something that keeps you coming back.

25 Nov 2012 07:56

The Wheatsheaf, Slough

Oh dear Fullers, how can you let your brand name be sullied by being attached to this pub? I am a major fan of your beers and most of your pubs, but this is beyond belief. It gets my 2 rating simply for stocking ESB

1 Apr 2012 13:21

The Old White Lion Hotel, Haworth

Have stayed here 3 or 4 times over the last few years, lovely hotel, but also great food (lovely steaks - and breakfasts!), and some fine ales. Thoroughly recommended, and staff are so friendly too. And as for location, one of the loveliest villages in the UK.

9 Feb 2012 19:17

Broadway Bar Cafe, Tolworth

An absolute shocker - a wannabe wetherspoons

8 Dec 2011 17:59

The Surbiton Flyer, Surbiton

Only go in on the odd occasion now, the ESB and/or Pride always has a little bit of a weird tang nowadays, tho its obviously not your traditional real ale punter this pub is now trying to lure in.

8 Dec 2011 17:45

The White House, Stockley Park

I rather like it here!! Use it as a lunchtime refuge from the hellhole of nearby workplace. Different atmosphere from most JDW venues - as it is on an industrial estate, it does not have the guys who are already 3 sheets to the wind by lunchtime! Friendly bar staff too!

25 May 2011 07:22

The Old Fish Market, Bristol

Good solid Fullers pub - great ales, nicely busy on a week night - didn't try the Thai food, but it it seemed very popular!!

11 Feb 2011 20:11

The New Prince, Surbiton

The dark haired barmaid with the Lancashire accent is possibly the friendliest I have ever met!!!

12 Nov 2010 14:10

The Old Customs House, Portsmouth

Nicely busy on a Saturday lunchtime - staff were friendly, beer was good - shame it has to be in the middle of a shopping centre!

7 Nov 2010 03:55

Castle Inn, Ryde

Am a massive fan of Fullers beer and Fullers pubs, but this was dreadfully disappointing. Full of oiks.

7 Nov 2010 03:51

The Anglers, Teddington

Can't believe these last few comments - only been here 2 or 3 times in the last week, but it seems a lovely place. Good drop of Fullers, friendly barstaff and a nice atmosphere. And no, i do not have any connection with the pub whatsoever!

26 Mar 2010 13:51

The Seaview Inn, Falmouth

Presume ownership must have changed, very friendly staff and punters, lovely pint of very potent ginger beer too. And a gorgeous view

15 Mar 2009 10:26

The Cutty Sark, Falmouth

I've been in there, and if this is a real pub, I don't wanna know. There's plenty of proper pubs in Falmouth - try the Seven Stars, Masons Arms, Wodehouse Arms. Just avoid here.

7 Feb 2009 13:22

The Seven Stars, Falmouth

No Grandmas Weapon Grade Ginger Beer on my last visit, but boy is that tasty!! I love this place!

7 Feb 2009 13:19

St Marks Tavern, Surbiton

Appears the "new determined manageress" did not have the desired effect - is now closed.

28 Dec 2008 13:25

Duke of York, Surbiton

Much improved since the refurb - you can go in here now without feeling you're going to be in a punch up.

16 Mar 2008 08:41

The Jugged Hare, Pimlico

Thank the Lord for Fullers and their converted bank pubs. Havens of sanity and decent beer, and this is a prime example.

4 Feb 2008 12:29

The Victoria Hotel, Keighley

Bit of a dive that thinks it's trendy.

17 Jan 2008 13:35

The Star and Garter, Falmouth

First visit just before Christmas - nice little place, superb views, decent ale.

28 Dec 2007 08:13

The Grid Inn, Southfields

Far from the nicest place I've been, and I feared the worst on viewing the clientele. However, the very pleasant barmaid more than made up for this - why can't all bar staff be as friendly!

6 Oct 2007 08:05

The Phoenix, Alexandra Palace

Only saving grace was that the Strongbow (yes I know....) was icy cold - much needed after a hike up from Wood Green.

27 Aug 2007 08:57

The Jolly Anglers, Wood Green

Not a good atmosphere in here on a pre bank holiday Sunday evening. Vaguely threatening.

27 Aug 2007 08:54

Goose, Wood Green

Oh dear. Can only echo the comment "a poor mans Wetherspoons.

27 Aug 2007 08:51

The Hand and Spear, Weybridge

A lot better than the grungy place I knew from a couple of years ago. Obviously now a lot more food orientated, but a nice cold bottle of London Special Ale went down nicely on a hot evening.

11 Jun 2007 07:15

Painters Arms, Portsmouth

Dodgy pint of Pride - not much else to say really.

18 May 2007 06:55

Woodies, New Malden

What a find - well worth the longish trek from Malden Manor or Berrylands station (even long if you get lost). Lovely atmosphere, superb walls of memorabilia, and great ESB - what more could a man ask for?

14 Apr 2007 08:08

The Doric Arch, Euston

I see what the previous comment meant re star arrangements - I walked round the place twice because I couldn't find an obvious way to the bar! Paid off though, nice pint of ESB, nice ambience in what can be a bit of a "dodgy" area.

7 Mar 2007 07:22

The Surbiton Flyer, Surbiton

Now open again after being shut for a refurb. Seems it took two weeks to put up new curtains and paint one wall...

18 Feb 2007 09:21

Wetherspoons, Victoria Station

Actually one of the better Wetherspoon pubs (which isn't saying much). And dead convenient for the train. Not all station pubs are soulless though (see comment by Jimmythefish) - The Bishop & the Bear at Paddington is a very good one.

9 Feb 2007 07:06

The Mint, Streatham Vale

Chav central. One of the worst places I've been to. A cocktail stick-chewing barman, who seemed more intent on chatting to his mates than actually serving any punters.

5 Feb 2007 07:41

The Boltmakers Arms, Keighley

Lovely, cosy little place. Nice pint too - perfect for pre/post train journeys!

2 Feb 2007 07:06

The Fleece Inn, Haworth

Very nice place in a superb location. Full range of Timothy Taylors finest - thoroughly recommended.

31 Jan 2007 06:28

The Black Bull, Haworth

Found it hard to reconcile Albert_Campion's comments re this being a "Wetherspoonalike" with my experience recently. Quite a friendly place, some decent ale (Nettlethrasher was good), and some soothing folk music on one evening.

31 Jan 2007 06:20

The Pig and Whistle, Earlsfield

An average pint, an average pint of Special (if that's not a contradiction in terms). Friendly barman.

28 Jan 2007 08:11

The Beehive, Wandsworth

Hadn't been here for years, popped back in on a Sat lunchtime. Very quiet, and a not very good pint of ESB. Bit disappointed.

28 Jan 2007 08:03

The Euston Flyer, Euston

Quite a nice place, considering the location! Good point of ESB, an excellent restorative after a long journey.

27 Jan 2007 09:51

The Builders Arms, Stratford

Extremely quiet on a Saturday afternoon - not a bad pint, and barmaid was friendly.

21 Jan 2007 07:31

Bar:me, Romford

Stange place - lots of screens for the football, but strangely empty.

21 Jan 2007 07:29

The Goose, Romford

This seems to be a much larger place than the Morland that it used to be (hope I'm not losing my marbles here). Still a bit down at heel, but beer was fine.

21 Jan 2007 07:28

The City Pride, Clerkenwell

Virtually empty on a weekday lunchtime. ESB was ok, but not very welcoming at all.

13 Jan 2007 07:31

The Brewery Tap, Wimbledon Village

Rather bland, winebar style pub. London Pride was ok.

8 Jan 2007 09:04

The Masons Arms, Falmouth

Lovely quiet little pub - wish there were more like this! Good pint of Tribute, or some too-easily drinkable cider!

29 Dec 2006 07:22

Wodehouse Arms, Falmouth

Not a bad place - can watch the football whilst sufing the net on your laptop. Beer not bad - usually St Austell Tribute.

29 Dec 2006 07:20

The Seven Stars, Falmouth

This pub is just like it was twenty years ago - fact. And quite possibly how it was fift, seventy years ago. Lovely pint of Bass, and cosy atmosphere!

28 Dec 2006 11:18

The Moon Under Water, Balham

As an ex-Balhamite, just had to visit it once, just to see if all these ghastly reviews were true... And by golly, are they spot on the mark! Absolutely awful. Felt like I needed a shower as I walked out.

4 Dec 2006 10:17

The Spring Grove, Kingston Upon Thames

Excellent "old style" Young's pub. Friendly atmosphere, and the lovely Winter Warmer. What could be better on a cold Sunday night.

20 Nov 2006 06:33

The Railway Hotel, Cheam

Hello colourshifter - I just seem to remember it being a bit more friendly, busy and "clubbable". Of course, It is quite possible that my rose tinted specs are on here....!

4 Nov 2006 09:23

The Bedford Park, Streatham

In here early on a Sunday evening. Horrible atmosphere, uninterested bar staff, shocking pint of Special. Cut my losses and ran.

25 Sep 2006 08:28

The Victoria, Surbiton

Have changed my rating since my previous comments a year or so back. Since refurb and new management arriving, the place is great!

12 Aug 2006 10:22

The Waggon and Horses, Surbiton

Friendly bar staff, comfortable seating, nice Ram & Special

29 Jul 2006 08:34

Orange Tree, Richmond

Nicely air conditioned, especially on a baking hot Sunday afternoon - an excellent Ram & Special too.

26 Jun 2006 07:01

The New Prince, Surbiton

Nice place - good pint of London Pride and friendly guvnor.

17 May 2006 08:47

The Prince Albert, Twickenham

first visit on Sat night - obviously had been recently redecorated (lovely smell of paint), but quite friendly and good ESB

7 May 2006 08:17

The Packet Station, Falmouth

Have to agree with comment below - one of the better Wetherspoons I've been in. Even the food tastes better - must be the sea air!

30 Apr 2006 09:40

Duke of York, Surbiton

Can't quite put my finger on it, but never feel comfortable in here. Vague feeling of a threatening atmosphere.

30 Apr 2006 09:15

The Worcester Park, Worcester Park

Have been here when it was a music pub, and more recently as more of a bar. Liked it on both occasions, have always found the real ale to be ok!

26 Apr 2006 06:53

The Eel Pie, Twickenham

Lovely atmosphere on a Sunday evening. Good pint of Badger, and interesting rugby memorabilia. Can imagine it being absolutely packed during internationals.

24 Apr 2006 06:45

The Hook, Line and Sinker, Twickenham

Fairly quiet on a Sunday evening. Good pint of ESB, friendly service. Will come again and try the food.

24 Apr 2006 06:42

The Mad Bishop and Bear, Paddington

One of the better station pubs - infinitely better than Waterloo's, for instance. Perhaps it's the lovely ESB that does it!

2 Apr 2006 10:24

The Fountain, New Malden

Dark, dismal, depressing. Scary punters, depressed bar staff

2 Apr 2006 10:16

The Harrow Inn, Cheam

quite surprised by comments below - although I'm only here on the odd lunchtime, beer is usually in good nick, and service friendly.

2 Apr 2006 10:13

The Railway Hotel, Cheam

Visited one sunday lunchtime - very quiet, and not the place I remember from 10 years ago!

2 Apr 2006 10:11

The Archery Tavern, Bayswater

Can only echo the statement below - used to be pre Cornwall stop off, so hope it reopens, but can definitely recommend the Victoria!

2 Apr 2006 09:53

The Victoria, Bayswater

An essential stop off before train trips! Lovely pint of ESB, friendly staff.

2 Apr 2006 09:51

The Bunters Bar, Truro

Nice little hidden away place - 2 for a pint! Good place to watch the football.

2 Apr 2006 08:54

Admiral Boscawen, Truro

Walked past the other day and this pub has now closed, not sure if permanent. It certainly was the place for a cheeky half (or two) before your train - certainly to prepare you for that walk up the hill!

2 Apr 2006 08:49

The Archery Tavern, Bayswater

Always an essential visit before a long train trip to Cornwall. Quiet but friendly atmosphere

29 Dec 2005 14:13

The Hole In The Wall, Waterloo

Nice little pub, which seems to be exactly the way it was 20 years ago. This is a good thing.

23 Aug 2005 14:49

The Plough, Byfleet

Relly nice place - cannot understand ban on mobiles though. They are are a part of modern life - surely they should have gaslights and only hand pumped beer otherwise?!

28 May 2005 10:06

The Victoria, Surbiton

Possibly the rudest bar staff I have evermet!

15 May 2005 09:27

The Maypole, Surbiton

Loads of tellies for the footie - shame about the rude bar staff

14 May 2005 10:30

The British Volunteer, Weybridge

A nice pint, dogs are lovely and the food is great. Don't agree with comments that non regulars are unwelcome though.

10 Apr 2005 11:09

The Surbiton Flyer, Surbiton

Always good for a pint after work and before the train home - and to watch the football.

10 Apr 2005 11:06

The Kings Head, Falmouth

Nice pint of Scrumpy Jack, and always good for the footy!
