The Imperial, Exeter

Interesting and usual Spoon's pub, with a number of small bars and seating areas within one very large establishment. Gets busy with a largely student clientele. Warm and welcoming with a typical food and drink menu offering the usual variety at low prices. Beers from Ruddles and Green King. A must is to through the body of the pub and turn left into the Orangerie area for a rather unusual and spectacular dining area.

The Old Fire House, Exeter

A fantastic selection of Real Ale. They always have beers from the west country and some how get beers we never usually see in Devon like Sunny Republic, Blackhole & Plain Ales.

The Hood Arms, Kilve

Former 17th-century coaching inn. Oak beams, open fireplace, comfortable bar and separate restaurant. Good selection of drinks available including an extensive wine list. Exmoor Gold and Otter Head beers. Service was good, especially Charlie. Nice walled garden. Good base for walking and also near the beach. Dogs welcome.

The Carew Arms, Crowcombe

Amazing food, generous portions and clean , restful bedrooms. our dog was also made very welcome and in all we had a super stay. Decent ales including Exmoor Ale
Otter Bright. This by no means a faceless corporate hotel, but a homely, comfortable country pub, full of character and warmth. Well worth the stay and great value for money. The chef even sent us on our way with a packed breakfst as we were leaving at 2am ( having offeredo to stay up and cook for us!!)

The Feathers Hotel, Ludlow

Seeing the Feathers reviews on here, decided to give it a try. What an amazing building! Sitting drinking pints of good ale around the log fire on a cold wet day... perfect. We tried all three ale and found them all very palatable. Friendly service, fantastic building, good beer.

The Church Inn, Ludlow

Called in the Church bastion on BITE reviews. Very good choice of ale, and three pint drinking "girls" received a warm welcome! A bit of a "boozer", but some interesting (I assume) local characters. Nice pint of Wye Valley and Ludlow Gold.

The Charlton Arms, Ludlow

Tried here for lunch, but was put off by slow service. Good selection of ale, appearing OK. Not sure why, but staff seemed to lack interest, and it showed. Shame.

The Clive Bar and Restaurant, Bromfield

Called here for a drink whilst visiting nearby food centre. Pleasant, but a bit sterile. More a restaurant than pub. Beer was fine, local Hobsons, service OK. Convenient if passing.

The Cabot Hotel, Weston Super Mare

Unlike many JDW pubs the Cabot Court appears small but is spread over four floors. The main bar area on the ground floor and spacious seating areas with high ceilings on the first floor. There's lots of big windows with views across the pub garden and seafront. We visited on a Wednesday and were quickly served and our food arrived in good time. The food itself was as always with JDW good value, but in this case somewhat over-cooked. Not bad selection of ale but not the best ever tasted. Nice location, OK beer, cheap meals.

The Queens Head, Stow on the Wold

Visited here for the afternoon. Fantastic, great locals giving the place a buzz. Had lunch, local produced cooked well and good value. Brilliant landlord and good staff. Local Donnington ale. Well worth visiting.

The Orchard Inn, Bristol

A great harbourside pub near to S.S. Great Britain. The Orchard does good lunches, ales and a fantastic selection of ciders and Perrys. Great atmosphere and staff. Well worth finding!

The Hop Pole, Bath

We went to The Hop Pole whilst visiting Bath over a girls weekend. Nice place with plenty of character. I had an excellent Belgian beer called SteenBrugge Blond, there are some fantastic ales on tap too, my favourite was Barnsey. The food was delicious, we all sampled each others food, all cooked perfectly and tasted incredible. I can guarantee if I'm ever in Bath again I'll be straight back to The Hop Pole.
