The Fox and Duck, Petersham

Visited on Saturday lunchtime to watch the England v Australia RU game on the big screen tv. Myself and a mate made very welcome by the staff and the regulars. Generally a warm, friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Easily accessible from Richmond and Kingston with stops for both the 371 and 65 buses close by. Thoroughly decent pub.

The Old Cock Inn, Droitwich

Back in the 1970's regulars used to enjoy the old bawdy seaside postcard gag " How far's the etc" Are you still there Dave Cadwell?

The Riflemans Arms, Droitwich

Enjoyed a few good pints in "the Rifes" in the 1970's with D.G. Cadwell of Skelmersdale. I remember the ex pugilist landlord sparing with the spirits bottles behind the bar. Jim Atkin.

The Hope, Richmond

Welcome back The Hope. Never thought that we could ever get rid of Molly's. Now a decent pub and well worth a visit if you want to try somewhere a little different from the usual type of high street pub.

The Phoenix Inn, St Helens

Always a warm welcome and well kept ales. Nicely tucked away from town centre. Well worth a visit.

Wellington, Eccleston Park

Has always been an excellent local. Many of the patrons have been regulars for many years. Visitors in past years include Harold Wilson, our PM at the time, Bill Shankly and Matt Busby, who had a drink in the public bar after a Liverpool vs Manchester United match. Has always had friendly and competent bar staff. I live in the south these days but always visit the Welly on my trips back to Prescot and have always met old friends on these occasions.

Shaftesbury Arms, Richmond

Mainly frequented by locals but can get mobbed on Twickers rugby days especially on Wales RFU visits, as it is on the route back to the M4 and South Wales. In the past the management has employed bouncers to restrict the numbers of patrons to a safe limit on these occasions. Also, the proximity to the London Welsh club ground has made it popular with the Welsh contingent of Richmond. Always a warm, friendly atmosphere with decent clientele. As mentioned by several previous posters
there is the added benefit of the excellent barmaid Nina. Starts to get busy after 1700 hours during the week.

The Builders Arms, Teddington

Traditional English local which, unfortunately, are becoming rarer in these times of gastro and theme pubs. Friendly and efficient staff and good selection of beers, lagers and wines. Considerate screening of sport by not dominating the whole pub and tv's being switched off when no sport is available. Clientele mainly locals who are generally friendly, decent, sensible people. Very well family managed.
