The Rumburgh Buck, Rumburgh

What a great pub, I can see why it's pub of the year. Welcoming and friendly. Only had a beer at lunchtime but will be back in the evening. The beer was in good condition, Barrel and Sellers, a new brewery, tradional bitter at £3.20 a pint. Has 4 beers on hand pump, usually 1 dark. Pub is comprised of many small rooms. Food looked reasonably priced.

Old Town Hall Vaults, Whitchurch

Visited on a Saturday night, busy but plenty of seating, friendly and wide age range of customers. Beer was in excellent condition, pity the Sarah Hughes guestbeer was not on. Now a Joule's pub so beer range more limited. A bit like the Oddfellows in Nantwich, if you are on the canal both well worth seeking out.

The Oddfellows Arms, Nantwich

Excellent locals pub not far from the canal. Went on a Friday evening, pub was quite busy but enough seating for for our group. Beer was in great condition, the Cumberland Ale was probably the best one Ive ever had, the Cocker Hoop was pretty good to. This is how pubs should be.

Jack Mytton Inn, Whittingham

Stopped here on our recent boating trip on the Llangollen canal, was the worst pub we went in. First impressions were not good, smell of vinegar hits you as you enter the pub door. The beer also smelt of vinegar or was a bit cloudy and flat, I guess the emphasis is on food. The landlord has a strange sense of humour. Looked at the menu and decided it was too expensive, wish we had stopped elsewhere, I would say the Poachers Pocket is a better choice. I gather the pub is on the market.
