Lord John, Stroud

Ughhh, won't be going in there again. They wouldn't let us take our dog in the first time we tried, when we went without him the second time we saw they allowed dirty filthy tramps in but not dogs! Poor service, had to wait a long time and the staff were not interested, the food was greasy and cold. A really dreadful experience.

The Amberley Inn, Amberley

Loved the food - delicious, and they are very welcoming of dogs which suited us. Good ales on. Only slight downside were the toilets, could have been cleaner.

The Black Horse Inn, Amberley

Went in this week and found the place has new management - the food was absolutely excellent, home cooked and big portions. All 4 of us visiting were impressed. We live locally and will be visiting on a regular basis. Its also dog friendly which is great as we can take the dog.
Was very busy so glad we booked.

The Duke Of Wellington, East Horsley

The Duke of Wellington is unique in looks and character, a place full of local history which is well worth finding out more. We visited the pub between Christmas and the New Year, sat in front of a roaring open fire and enjoyed a light lunch of club sandwiches - the meat included in the sandwich was excellent. The Duke is dog friendly with attentive staff and a happy and relaxed atmosphere. We were visiting friends in the area so came back later for dinner, again sitting close to the open fire. The home cooked meal was excellent with superb meat which we found out is bought locally in the village - always good to hear. We thought the food was very good value for money and will definitely visit again when we are next in the area. We also discovered that there are rooms available and were kindly shown around one which has a lot of old world charm with a modern jaccuzi bath - will stay here next time we are visiting friends. Having looked at previous reviews was rather surprised as we found the place charming and enjoyed our visit, obviously what ever the problems were in the past they are now long gone.
