The King's Head, Wells

Under new management having been closed for a short time and now refurbished. Had a very pleasant Sunday lunch here recently and wish the new proprietors well.

The Globe Inn, Wells

This is a proper pub, good ale, interesting food and a convivial atmosphere. Highly recommended.

City Arms, Wells

Decent pub with better than average food, good selection of real ales though I did have a slight problem once convincing the landlord to pop some of his bottled beers into the fridge! Recommended.

The Sun Inn, Wells

Great to see a pub with loads of screens to watch the footie on, disappointing that the last time I was in there Scotland v Italy - a cracking match - went off at half time to be replaced by Israel v Russia. Cue mass exodus to the Globe.

Waggon and Horses, Brentford

Now run by Serbians who have never run a pub before. Bar staff are all eastern european, mostly with only a very basic grasp of the english language. Claim to be family friendly, I think this means they will serve alcohol to just about anyone over the age of 12 as the frequent piles of vomit outside the door will testify to. Live bands at weekends though they have no inclination to acquire a public performance licence. Food can be good, can be dire but would you really trust a kitchen in a pub where most of the light bulbs don't work (eastern european thing - saves money - same reason they no longer have sky sports). Soon to be demolished to make acess to the construction site next door.
