The Sun Inn, Barnes

after a nice walk by the river, despite the negative reviews from my parents we felt we had to sample it for ourselves.

my wife was pleasntly suprised with the choice of wines on offter, and also myself was stunned with the inlcusion of leffe - but in the end, ordered an erdinger.

after a few drinks we decided it was maybe time to sample the delights of the menu that was on offer - delicious food, and even my parents were impressed although they didnt like to admit it!

all in all, everthing appeared to be going very well - didnt know what the parents had to complain about.

the problems started when the coffee woman forgot to bring our latte's in time with the brownie we had ordered, our waitress was apologetic and really made up for the managers incompetience.

all in all, with the scenic views an quality of food i would recommend this place for a good day out - wold love to sample the other menu items sometime soon.

still... a very nice pub. we will go back!

The Red Lion, Barnes

having been a long time attended of the red lion for many years i feel i need to express my dissapointment.

after reading the last review i completly disagree. although the inside is looking nicer i still think the service is slightly mc donalds like.

having had a lot of issues with the service and standard of food, i can honestly say that the manger is awful in the way she handles her customers.... sorry... are we not the people who pay your wages?

9.95 for a BBQ 2oz burger, and chips an absolute disgrace; even the short petit irish barmaid was also embarassed with the prices one would charge for such fast food type burgers.

also what is with the NON smoking decking area. not a smoker myself but after being there with friends i can understand the problems with the limitations to their restrictions.

the staff try their best but are quite cleerly poorly trianed newbies and badly managed and not what they used to be.

i have very good memories of this pub and hope to see it in the light i used to, once again, very soon.

The Idle Hour, Barnes

absolutly awful!!

the beer is always in terrible condition and the landlord getting drunk at the end of the bar. he either has very rich parents or a massive mortgage that keeps this place running - there are plenty of other pubs in the area which are much beter value for money and serve their drinks in clean glasses and food which isnt overpriced and cooked in a dirty oven.

get with the times, this place could be a real hideaway, but instead just seems to be a place for the landlord to get pissed with his hockey mates.

a real downer. g parker.

The Coach and Horses, Barnes

Loved it.

Really good family day out after a nice stroll along the river! great food and the ice cream was to die for.. epic!

the landlady aint bad either, service with a beautiful smile.

why does the garden have to close at eleven though? MISSED OPPURTUNITY!!!!????

Also, last summer the pub used to be open until 12 daily, not impressed with the coach following in suit with all the other pubs in the area by closing early. lets start a petition?, but job well done for all the changes that have been made since the last landlady.
