The Rose and Crown, Erdington

What a dump, if your passing....keep going.

The Sherlock Holmes, Charing Cross

Considering the amount of tourist that frequent this pub (The name naturally attracts them) I suggest the London tourist board send the staff (In particular the landlady) on a public relations course and the sooner the better, whatever qualities this pub has to offer our soured by arrogant staff. Sadly unsuspecting customers (tourists) will keep the tills ringing, but I doubt many return.

Isaac Merritt, Paignton

Service & staff were excellent on the two occasions i have visited this summer.Decorwise there are some wonderful nostalgic photos of Paington, although the majority are upstairs (as you have to go to visit the loo). Food was typical wetherspoons, cheap & filled a hole, but unlike a lot of Wetherspoons pubs at least the meals here were consistantly hot when served.

The Drum Inn, Torquay

Its easy to give this pub an above average review simply because its location is stunning & on a sunny day there a few that can rival the supping at an outside table in the chocolate box village of Cockington. The choice of beers is reasonable & the various bitters i have tried have met with approval, however if food is your priority when visiting then dont build your hopes up too high.

The Brasshouse, Birmingham

Images 1 & 2 are The definately The Brasshouse, image 3 as Brumchris states is what used to be the Crown which is now called Exodus. The Brasshouse continues to hold traditional pub values close to its heart,i prefer using it in during the daytime of hours of Saturday & Sunday where a wide age range mix quite happily,& friendly atmosphere exudes.

The Stockland Hotel, Erdington

No longer a pub.No longer known as The Stockland Hotel.Premises now converted into a Chinese buffet style restaurant called 'Modern China'.

Prince Of Wales, Covent Garden

Now my favourite London pub.Great atmosphere, friendly people both sides of the bar, food excellent, service & politness to match, good selection of ales & soft drinks.Sunday afternoon the pearly kings & queens were having a sing song adding to the general feelgood atmosphere.I will return.

The Salisbury, Leicester Square

The perfect pub.Go for a quick one & you will stay for hours.Atmosphere of a true pub in a vibrant location, quality beers, quality staff.

The Sutton Park, Sutton Coldfield

Quality pub food at reasonable prices.Well populated & justly so in view of the friendly atmosphere created by young & old alike. An excellent local.

The Cove, Covent Garden

I always make a point of visiting this place when in London's a sunny day you can sit on the balcony watching the performers doing their stuff below.Eye candy behind the bar is worth the trip alone, always different, always top totty & polite, the steep stairs are a bit on an effort when exiting after a few beers,a risk worth taking,it can be a little claustrophobic

The Brasshouse, Birmingham

I really like this place, reasonable choice of beers, spacious without lost that intamacy feel of a good pub, prices reflect the Broad St area, although you feel you get value in this place unlike some of its near neighbours.

The Bridge, Birmingham New Street station

Choke on fag smoke, transient moody customers/bar staff no effort whatsoever, you have to be really desperate to go in here.It is either a bad welcome to Brum or a bad departure from Brum,Brum deserves a better station boozer than this, give it a miss.

The Square Peg, Birmingham

Cheap beer not always the reason for nipping in anywhere, this is
one of wetherspoons poorer efforts which is a waste of a suberb location a spacious through lounge, except for the very tasteful decor, excellent old pics of Brum & its more famous sons & daughters, food ok,but if you're 40+ leave it until the daylight hours

17 Jun 2005 23:07

The Old Royal, Birmingham

A pub in every sense of the word. If you like the traditional feel & atmosphere of A PUB,the visit this place.

Raphaels, Birmingham

Once upon a time it was worth a visit, but they seem to have given up the ghost, far more seats & tables than customer requirements....Overall walk on by,too many other options nearby prepared to make more of an effort.

Wetherspoons, Birmingham

Fair prices as you would expect, food inconsistent, depends on the mood of the cook,i reckon they get through quite a few,Ice in you Steakpie anyone ?? For non eaters then worth a stop off on the way to somewhere else, but only for a quick one.

17 Jun 2005 22:41

The Tap and Spile, Birmingham

Historic canalside building totally wasted by inept bar staff/owners,if your thirsty & hungry & expect decent service then pass this place by.

17 Jun 2005 22:37

Solomon Cutler, Birmingham

Depends on your age. Under 35 ok for evening weekends, over 35 ok for daytime drinking & eating.Personally i am a young 45 & have had a few good times in here but overall would prefer the daylight hours upstairs.

17 Jun 2005 22:35

The Merchant Stores, Birmingham

Staff excelllent when our lot passed through, not the cheapest place, but a genuine step if on a crawl up Broad St,if you miss it dont fret, there are so many similar places just outside, needs to make a bigger effort to stand out from the crowd.

17 Jun 2005 22:32

The Walkabout, Birmingham

Floorboards everywhere,(easily cleaned i suspect),not for the faint hearted of a weekend, but during the week or lunchtime sats & Suns there is no reason why not giving it a chance for an hour or so.

17 Jun 2005 22:30

All Bar One, Brindley Place

Eye candy excellent on a Friday & Saturday Night, bar servie excellent, plenty of beer options for all,a bit pricey but overall well worth a visit.

17 Jun 2005 22:27

Malt House, Brindley Place

I quite like this pub, spacious & welcoming, just off the Broad street jungle but near enough not to take you away from the main throng. Sundays offer 2 hours of excellent jazz (free),good food, plenty of beer options, well worth a visit.

17 Jun 2005 22:25

The Digby, Erdington

A friendly pub (a rarity in Erdington) offers drinkers of all ages good food & a convivial atmosphere in which to enjoy a decent lager,Bitter or Mild. Gents toilets are basic but now boast a full lenghth mirror(why for heavens sake?).Plenty of room to sit outside on those sunny summer evenings well away from traffic, although the car park arrivals & departures can test the resporative organs occasionally, overall well worth a sip 7 guzzle.
