The Kenilworth, Edinburgh

I had returned to this gem of a pub on a flying visit to Edinburgh just recently. I used to stay in Edinburgh and this pub was always one of my favourite drinking holes. The place has not changed greatly, thank goodness and the Kenilworth is well worth a visit and my advice is spend some time here and enjoy the beer and surroundings. I will return again for sure.

Brecks, Edinburgh

I had in the past spent many a happy hour drinking at this pub. In years gone by it was called the 'Goblet' and I still have the Scottish triple crown winners tie to prove this. The pub has changed of course and from a sentimental point of view I returned to see it once more. Not always the best thing to do, it was a hot day and the pub was not air conditioned so not too comfortable and in truth a bit dissapointing all round. The disconnected old phone line ''I'll be home late'' corner was still there as an earlier report states. I am sure this pub is well located in the popular Rose Street and enjoys its regulars.

The Blue Blazer, Edinburgh

I was recommended by a friend to visit the Blue Blazer and so glad I found this pub. They had such a good selection of cask ales, all that I tried, and I tried many, were just first class. Friendly staff that were keen to allow me to taste before I purchased. Only shame was that on the same night Scotland beat Norway and England got stuffed by NI - the beer eased my pain. Don't miss out on this place , go see for yourself.

The Guildford Arms, Edinburgh

You cannot go for a drink in Edinburgh without making your way to the Guildford Arms. This has to be one of the best drinking locations, there are so many good ones to choose from in truth, with great beer, friendly staff all in such lovely surroundings. I shall return here on my next trip for sure.

The Horseshoe Bar, Glasgow

Arriving in Glasgow, I asked the taxi driver to recommend a decent pub. I was told that the Horseshoe Bar was a good pub and I have to say the he was not wrong. This pub is a gem and you can sit and relax, watch the world go by, nice original surroundings, interesting people going about their business and they serve a really great pint. Till the next time.
