The White Horse, Southend on Sea

was pleased with the overall apearance inside and out of the white horse. the food is reasonably priced and the garden is just great for those summer time drinks in the beer garden! (very large side and rear gardens) i would have to agree with "porsche-drivers" comment on the one out of three meals are good tho. this is perfect boozer for watching the world cup or fav team playing. the drinks prices however are not as low as other locals in the southend area. kids are welcome but not allways a plus when the load mouth mums in the area have had a few!!

The Last Post, Southend on Sea

at best the last post is a great way to start your night out if your on a budget! the prices are very low! as it is located in the center of southend high sreet you would expect a lively upbeat atmosphere. but no! there is no music and as a large boozer its hard to feel a freindly vibe! the sevice (altho friendly) is very slow! no pool table, no juke box, and only two tv's which never have volume due to the lack of ad licienceing i was told. (wich is why the prices are low i was told by a regular) familys are welcome and the food menu is great. a large selection of ales/ lagers/ ciders/ and spirits. i would, however, only visit the last post as a means to start the evening off and then promptly move on after about an hour. my rating for this venue is based soley on the price of there drinks!

The Sutton Arms, Southend on Sea

musty and old, but freindly during weekdays, kids allowed till seven, but not allways the standup parents are present with there children. great choice of ales and lager. and allways a live band at wknds.warm friendly staff are on hand. pool table and juke box. (a word of advise, let your children enter the play area at your own risk!) all in all tho, not a bad little boozer.

The Guildford, Southend on Sea

this is great local as far southend locals go.! recently taken on new manegment (mark and andrina) the guildford is rapidly transforming into a great place for new and old consumers. i would hole hartedly recomend the guildford to anyone passing or thinking of a great and friendly pub for either a great night out drinking, or a perfect, value for money eating experience!! with warm friendly staff, monday quiz night, and thursday poker night, pool team, and dj's performing, the guidford pub is now in my opinion my pub of choice. my advise is, anyone looking for great local... dont knock it till youve tried it ! :)
