Hotel du Vin and Bistro, Brighton

Ok-ish place but a bit bland and my mobile doesn't work there either which is a pain.
Beer's ok but the garden out back seems to attract a high proportion of annoyingly loud types in the summer.

The Princess Victoria (The PV), Brighton

Really friendly staff, good beer and an interesting range of cocktails and vodka although chilli vodka could be much hotter. Nice laid back pub that DOESN'T neccessarily require you to wear 'comfortable shoes'.

Amuse yourself and your friends by asking bar staff to make endless cocktails and watch the panic on their faces when they can't find the instructions to the landlady's latest masterpiece..

The Robin Hood, Brighton

Great pub, sells a pretty good range of beer, nice surroundings and atmosphere. Pizza for abou 5 at almost any time! Really different and a welcome change from most McPubs around Brighton.

The Swan Mountain Range Restaurant & Bar, Forest Row

I've been here 4-5 times now and it's really nicely decorated, real log fires, etc. Great place for a drink. The food is very good BUT the service is consistently inconsistent. The staff never seem to be quite sure whether they're supposed to be doing table or bar service where diners are concerned or whether they should run a table bill or get you to pay at the bar.
Today went for lunch just after 12 when it opened, about 10 people in, mainly at the bar. Ordered coffee & tea when menus arrived while we decided. 15 min later, had to chase drinks at the bar and then order food as the waitress hadn't come back.B oth meals arrived together quite quickly but minus my partner's side dish which we'd paid for but they'd 'lost'. Side dish arrived about 5 min after we'd both finished our meal.
Tip - make sure you get served by the tall scottish bloke, he's the only one who seems to know what he's doing.
