The Kings Head, Blofield

Very sadly since my recent review I have now learned of the death of Charlie, the landlord, who will be missed by all. The notice on the door explains that the pub will be closed for the for the immediate future. If and when it reopens I will post a notice on the site.

Whalebone, Norwich

I always enjoy my visits to this pub. It has several drinking areas and is always well maintained and clean. A very good selection of real ales is always available. They have large screens showing the sky sport but they are normally sound turned down so they are not intrusive. A real cross section of people in here and also all the age groups. Never had any problems with the landlord, landlady or staff
that other contributors mention. Makes a good pub crawl if combined with the Duke of Wellington, Fat Cat (Cider Shed), Earl of Roseberry and a little further into the city, the Cottage on Silver Road.

The Surrey Tavern, Norwich

The Surrey Tavern had been closed for about a year and we were worried about what may replace it. Not another Indian ,rather Bangladeshi restaurant. No, what we have is a pub and a good one.
The staff are friendly and they have three real ales on. We had Sharps Doombar and although it was our intention of only having a quick one we ended up drinking 3 pints of it. The front bar seems to be pretty much the same as before but the room at the back has been nicely done up. It has a rustic feel with a pale green interior.
Outside there is a large area of decking that will be a good place to sit on a warm day.
They have an extensive food menu and are now open normal pub hours instead of the old early evening close and nothing on Saturdays.
This used to be a Norwich Union employees pub and virtually used to keep office hours.
Its probably the best pub in this vicinity close to the bottom end of the bus station.

Plough, Norwich

For years this was a pub that you would not want to go in. Now it has been transformed with a rustic feel inside and a pleasant garden at the back. Not sure if they do any food. Serves only Grain beers which I did not have much knowledge about. The friendly girl behind the bar knew all about the beers and helped with our selection. Definitely the best pub on St. Benedicts.

The Salisbury Arms, Winchmore Hill

I don't live in the area but have had two very enjoyable visits to this pub. This looks a good area of London with quite a bit of competition
pub wise. Three real ales on offer ,Summer Lightning, Sharps Doombar and one other dark beer. Sampled the food there on one occasion , it was good and arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. The clientele here seem fine and there is plenty of seating both inside and out.

The Kings Head, Blofield

Very friendly village local. Normally Adnams and Greene King plus one guest beer. Normally open all day and food served Tues to Sun lunch and Fri and Sat evenings. This is the best pub food in the area. Much friendlier than the nearby Shoulder of Mutton and Yare. Charlie is an excellent cook and a very friendly landlord.
