The Queensway, Lytham St Annes

Closed Down Permanently
I only ever came here for breakfast but the food was great, it was clean and comfortable. Shame it has gone.

The American Bar and Grill, Hale

Closed down over two years ago. Is now a French restaurant.

23 Feb 2017 13:08

The Manchester, Blackpool

Ignorant staff, beer not in good condition, toilets need a good clean, avoid

Varsity, Southend on Sea

Never been here, but the picture puts me off. Do people really queue up to get in a pub? I certainly wouldn't.

The Cresta Court Hotel, Altrincham

When the barmaid asked me for 3.50 for a pint of bitter i walked out. Absolute rip off.

The George and Dragon, Altrincham

Good food, clean, comfortable, 2 ales when i visited. A bit pricey but overall not bad.

25 Mar 2012 17:52

The Navigation, Broadheath

No ales on when i went in. There was a stale smell like a pensioners flat. Not as cheap as i was told but certainly a lot cheaper than some of the rip off pubs in the area. Not somewhere i would go out of my way to visit again.

The Met, Sale

This has been demolished

25 Mar 2012 17:38

The King's Ransom, Sale

Expensive and unwelcoming. Don't go in here if you have walking problems. There are stairs everywhere.

23 Mar 2012 13:53

The J P Joule, Sale

Typical Wetherspoons. Staff mostly friendly. Good ales. Not sure why this is dearer than the Unicorn (Wetherspoons) in nearby Altrincham which is a much more affluent area.

23 Mar 2012 13:51

The Golden Lion, South Bermondsey

Long since deceased. Fuck the ammers.

20 Mar 2012 18:26

The Station, Altrincham

I never know if this pub will be open or not. I don't see how anyone can run a business like that.

20 Mar 2012 18:03

The Salisbury, Manchester

I walked passed yesterday and it was boarded up. Not sure if that means its closed down or just a reaction to the riots. The pub on the corner Grand Central is a better rock pub anyway.

The Dog and Bull, Croydon

I'm not a fan of Youngs beer but after reading the good reviews on here i decided to visit this pub as i was in the area. I bought a pint of special bitter, the price 3.20 which i thought was ridiculous. There were ten customers in the pub, all ignored me. I tried talking to two of them but it was obvious they didn't want to know. The pub is smaller than i expected and the beer was ok but i won't be returning. Another bad thing was someone put a song on the jukebox that sounded like an African war dance, suitable for the area which seems to have more Africans than English.

The Gullivers, Manchester

I just got an e-mail from Jillys Rockworld saying they are opening here one Friday a month in the upstairs bar.

11 Jan 2011 16:40

The Gardeners Arms, Timperley

One thing that really bugs me is a pub that opens when they feel like it. I arrived at 1pm on a Friday and it was closed. I won't bother returning.

Robert Shaw, Westhoughton

It has improved a lot recently. Good beer at a fair price and the new staff are a big improvement on the old lot.

8 Dec 2008 21:22

The Red Lion, Westhoughton

Gone downhill badly since they got rid of the pool table and quiz night, the smoking ban hit this pub more than most. The new furniture makes it look like a doctors waiting room.

8 Dec 2008 21:20

The Royal Oak, Westhoughton

Oh come on it's not that bad. Overpriced and a bit boring maybe, but there are a lot worse pubs in the area.

8 Dec 2008 21:16

The Gallery, Altrincham

This is awful. They are trying to make it into a yuppie wine bar type eating place. Anyone who does this to a pub really needs shooting.

20 Jun 2008 00:19

Scruffy Murphy's, Birmingham

Don't touch anything on draught and don't use the toilet. Great music and friendly service. Could be cleaner but i suppose this is as good as it gets nowadays. I give it 8 due to the dodgy beer.

29 May 2008 00:17

The Crown, Birmingham

2.70 for a pint of so called real ale that tastes like vinegar. Overpriced food and generally boring. Better off going down the road to scruffy murphys.

29 May 2008 00:13

Robert Shaw, Westhoughton

The beer is very good. The food is ok. The staff need shooting. But at least this pub is open when you would expect it to be open, a rarity for this area.

The Intrepid Fox, Soho

15, St. Giles High St, London, WC2H 8LN

28 Dec 2006 00:35

Crobar, Soho

I was devastated to hear about the Intrepid Fox closing but i heard this place is a reasonable substitute. I will definitely pay a visit next time i'm in London. It sounds good but a pub with no draught beer? thats er .......different

17 Oct 2006 01:12

The Intrepid Fox, Soho

There are no rock pubs left in London anymore. I am still mourning the death of the Hawley Arms in Camden. Now the bastards are killing the Intrepid Fox. Disgraceful.

14 Oct 2006 00:44

The Tollington, Holloway

Anyone know if they still have the boxers reunions the first sunday in every month? What about Arthur the Burmese man?

11 Oct 2006 01:21

The Wheatsheaf Hotel, Westhoughton

I don't know why this pub has been rated so low. I had a great time in there and woke up next to a Kylie lookalike the next morning. Great stuff.

5 Aug 2006 20:12

The Ancient Foresters, Bermondsey

I heard the new govenor is a wrongun.

5 Aug 2006 20:09

The Nelson, Wood Green

Decent pint of Abbotts for 1.90 reasonable looking Aussie tart behind the bar and a pool table. You could do a lot worse.

30 Jun 2005 22:17

O'Rafferty's, Wood Green

This was the legendary Fishmongers Arms where Jethro Tull played in the 60's. I moved away from the area years ago and recently revisited on a nostalgia trip. People say you should never go back. I don't regret it but it was a disappointing experience. Maybe i'm just getting old.

The Welsh Harp, Waltham Abbey

I lived in Waltham Abbey for about six months in 1979. I found the locals to be ignorant unfriendly imitation Londoners who hated anyone from outside their miserable little village. The one exception was the landlord of this pub Mick Murphy. He was the only decent bloke i met there. The beer was a foul tasting local brew called McMullens. I soon returned to sunny south London and have never been back. I don't know if Mick is still there or even if he is still alive but he was the sort of bloke who would buy anyone a drink and there were plenty who took advantage. My advice to anyone who gets offered a council house in this horrible little place is don't take it. Life in a Deptford tower block is no fun but at least the people are genuine and you don't have to wait an hour for a bus.
