The Swan, Edenbridge

I went to this pub last night as I had just moved into the area. It is difficult to describe how grubby and old fashioned this place is. There are two bars one large with a few seats, a pool table and darts board and one smaller for eating in. Whilst I was in the smaller bar the landlady just came in and turned the tv onto Sky sport assuming I was a fan I suppose. I was too timid to ask her to turn it off ( I was the only one in). The decor is awful, dated and held together with dust and extraneous bits of electric cabling. There are brass objects and odd bits of crockery hanging from walls and ceilings. The landlady is quite frightening (dour is probably best description). The toilets are rank. The pint of Doombar was ok. I didn't eat there and neither would I as I just get the feeling hygiene is not the top of their priorities. The whole place needs gutting and starting again with new landlords.

The Old Eden, Edenbridge

This pub has changed hands and is now called the Willows - very bucolic but filled with chavs and the beer is too cold.

Fountain, Cowden

Good country pub with bar biliards! Beer is good and staff and locals very friendly. Do a large food menu but haven't eaten there. Landlady is a bit of a tartar.

The Greyhound, Hever

Really friendly staff. The food is excellent as well as the service. I had steak pudding and because the pudding was hard at the bottom they replaced the whole meal and didn't charge me anything. Beer is Timothy Taylor and Larkins. Big garden and nice raised decking at the front.
