Hairy Lemon, Dublin

sadly we can't review this bar.

The doorman wouldn't let is in. The bar was far from crowded, we were well dressed, not under age, not drunk and not wearing football colours, not a stag or hen night. In fact there was only three of us, two male and one female.

When we went to open the door to enter the pub, the doorman pushed his finger to the chest of our friend and just said "NO!", when asked in very polite terms why we couldn't enter he then just "NO!" and put his foot in the way.

Luckily we were staying at the wonderful hotel a few doors down, which not only has an amazing bar, but expert bar staff.

Maybe the doorman was having a bad day.

The Jolly Postboys, Oxford

This pub is starting to change for the better. The new landlord and landlady are making a real effort and it's making a difference.

Good service, normal but wide range of drinks, didn't see too many real ales, but the drinks they do have are looked after well.

This area of Oxford (other than the Prince of Wales in Iffley) is calling out for a decent pub and it looks as if this one is getting ready to be just that.

The Salisbury, Leicester Square

This pub is amazing, it's not a big pub by any means or the type of chain that would encourage large groups of people. So if you are on a stag / hen night or a big pub crawl maybe not the place for you.

Great service, a welcoming place for all ages and a wide selection of drinks.

It has the feel of a good local but in the heart of the City.

The perfect place for a nice drink and a chat with friends and long may it stay this way.

The Dirty Duck, Stratford Upon Avon

Been to this pub a few times over the last couple of years when visiting Stratford. Sadly it didn't cope with the smoking band too well, as the smoke must have masked the strong smell of cleaning products used in the mens toilets. The smell was enough to put you off your drink.

It was a lovely surprise on this visit to see that it's overcome that problem and it's back to being a great place to enjoy a pint or two. Very good bar staff, wide selection of beers and other drinks. Can get busy just before and after theatre performances at the nearby RSC, though well worth a visit.

The Gloucester Arms, Oxford

Sadly it's been reported in the local press that this pub will close. There has been a pub on this site since around the 1820's.

The college that owns it has tried to close the pub before to sell off the building. So fingers cross they fail to close it down this time.

The New Inn, Witney

Great little pub, a real local that welcomes everyone. Good and wide selection of beers, music from time to time but no food. You almost feel like you are in the landladies front room.

Founders Arms, Bankside

Love this pub, very good staff, great drinks and food (not a gastro pub, but good pub grub)and one of the best views in London. It does get crowded from time to time, but the staff always to their best and it's worth the wait.

Enjoyed many a night here, also a great place for New Years eve - though book as early as you can.
