Still absolutely first rate! A mecca whenever we are in Cornwall. Spingo is delightful. Conversation is good. Lack of muzak and children is wonderful. Atmosphere ecellent.

Very, very good pub. Excellent Youngs Bitter - kept superbly well. Service is very good - observation of who's waiting when the bar is busy is exemplary.
A good place to meet, and certainly a good place to head for after a busy evening.

Absolutely splendid pub, with a superb range of ales. Magnificently friendly from owners, staff, and regulars alike.
Wonderful to find no muzak, no children, just conversation - which can be erudite. Used by many individuals and small groups, and a real gem for Wiltshire.
We have been going here frequently since before it's current incarnation - and what a turn-round it has been.

If it's to be recognised as a pub, it would be good to see more emphasis (and space) for drinking, and less overt emphasis on food. That said, the ale was well-kept, and the service good.

It was a few months ago that we went there (only just noticed it on here), but certainly then it did not really seem other than a sort of restaurant which did beer. We did not feel particularly welcome when we said we did not want to eat!

I quite agree with the previous review. Ale fairly indifferent, the place a shadow of its former self - in fact, there is no perceptible connection. After one drink we left, never to return. It, presumably, caters for 'yoof'.

Rather splendid. Ales (esp. Betty Stogs) well worth drinking - and most of the food serving is mercifully away from the bar. A thirst-inducing climb back to the bar from the lavatories!

First rate, excellent local ale - very well kept. Food looked so appetising that even I, who does not normally go in for food in pubs, was tempted - and very glad I was too. We called in on the way further into Cornwall for a short break, and were so impressed by everything and everyone at Blisland that we slightly delayed our planned journey back purely in order to have another lunchtime session here. Delightful.

Pretty expensive, seemed pretty unfriendly - though the bar service was at least efficient. Most of the bar, minutes after opening time, was occupied by a few locals holding forth expansively to each other.

Very good pub. Ale is always, when I've been there, very well kept and served. What is notable, moreover, is that, despite being a 'foody' pub, they do not in any way discriminate against those purely there for the beer - not a frequent trait, sadly!

Whenever I've been here, and I used to live nearby, the ale has seemed to be a little problematic. Strange as it's their own beer! Far too many families, too.

The Case is Altered, Five Ways
Mercifully no telephones allowed, no food, no muzak, no 'jukebox', few pretentious dicks available, mainly good, well kept, thoughtfully served, ale. A gem of a pub in which to enjoy one's ale in peace. Would that one lived nearby, though various occasions have taken us there often over the past thirty years. Interesting fan secured to the beamed ceiling!

The Zetland Arms Hotel, Warwick
Can be cliquey, and one does regret the passing of Davenports which could be had with pleasure here. However, some recent visits have proved that there is both good ale and good service to be had.

The Old Fourpenny Shop Hotel, Warwick
One always enjoys a visit here, albeit that the heating is usually too intense! However, the ales are nicely varied and very well kept. The OFS has some quite excellent accommodation both within the main building, and in a courtyard setting at the rear.

Excellent, first rate pub. Have not smapled any food here, one goes for the ales, but the bar service and quality cellarmanship is readily apparent.

Mainly a mecca for eaters. However, there is a small area, essentially the first room, which is set aside for drinkers. One had found, over several visits, that the ale is usually well up to scratch - and, mercifully, one is not made to feel too unwelcome when visiting purely as a seeker after ale.

Have had excellent, well kept ale in here, also had beer that was off. Over time, therefore, one has found it rather variable. The main bar can get very crowded, though, so it is obviously doing something right. Retiring to the other bar to get some peace rather puts one amongst the eaters and families, not a personal preference!

The Blacksmiths Arms, Lastingham
Difficult to get a drink unencumbered by the smell of cooking. Far too close, in all senses, to the church and its doings. Beer selection, though, can be very good, though often awkward to find space at the bar to order.

Very friendly staff. Often a good selection of ales, kept usually very well.
Bar seems a bit crowded with tables, so one supposes that food is made much of.

Very popular with the local community, and lots of community events happen here. Unfortunately, I don;t think there is any real ale.
The food is extremely popular.

Never had a bad time, nor a bad pint in the Blue Anchor. Visited as often as possible over many years, and always glad to visit again. An absolute gem, and just what a pub should be.

The Old Joint Stock, Birmingham
I remember it as a bank. Nowadays glad to find that one can withdraw several pints of Chiswick. An excellent addition to the facilities of the second city.

A very fine pub. Personally, I don't go to a pub for food, so, if anything, I preferred it in its former incarnation before the fire. However, I have never felt less than welcome there, and have always encountered reasonable and sociable clientele.

We have always had excellent beer, served efficiently and friendly, by excellent staff here. It is a must on visits to Hampshire, and is all a pub should be - though sometimes rather too crowded. The lack of music is a delight.

The Tinners Arms, Zennor
Superb building, and should be a superb pub - it used to be. Seems to have become a gastropub. Of course, at our most recent visit we may have been witnessing an anomalous situation, but that was the impression it gave us.
