Tafarn Sinc, Rosebush

This is a cracking, eccentric little pub that I can't recommend too highly. The landlord is a friendly guy and the locally brewed Tafarn Sinc ale is a right good pint. I can't agree with the reviewer who detected an anti-English bias. My girlfriend is English and my twenty six years in England have left me with no trace of my native Welsh accent but I found the landlord and locals very helpful when we needed directions to a local holy well. The beer garden is a delight- there used to a a railway station locally and they've built a model station in the garden.

The Dyffryn Arms, Pontfaen

I found this pub while I was on holiday with my girlfriend. I can only agree fulsomely with the other reviews on here. This pub is an absolute classic, a real gem. No fruit machine, no jukebox, no karaoke, just ale and good company. Bessie is a real diamond, she told us that she had been running the pub for over sixty years and it had been in her husbands family since 1845. They don't make pubs like this anymore, I only hope Bessie leaves it to someone in her family when she goes to the Great Alehouse in the Sky.

The Royal Oak, Painswick

Plus point- the beer was good.
Minus points- food was rather average and took ages to arrive. The couple next to us waited 45 minutes for a pair of chicken wings. We left after waiting 20 minutes for our desserts, without result. The staff didn't even bother to apologise.
I might go back for the ale, but I won't go back for the food or the service.

The Bull, Stanford Dingley

I was in here today, the service was shockingly poor. We waited half an hour for food only to be told that they hadn't even started cooking it. There were only two other people in the pub when we arrived as well so it's not like they were busy. avoid. go to the Boot around the corner instead.
