The Station Hotel, Ashton Under Lyne
Beautiful pub, excellent beers and beer garden. Staff helpful and friendly - all in all a really great pub since the takeover.

The Witchwood, Ashton Under Lyne
As a student, I beg to differ with the 'over-priced' comment as regards the Witchwood. The staff are always friendly, there are plenty of 'Real' ales at the bar - always under �1.80 (even for the 'Boutique' types, not just the standards) and its the cheapest around for lagers (Your usual Fosters, Kronenbourg etc). Table service is also included gratis - the always helpful staff dont even expect a tip.
In short, its the best pub for miles around, bar the Station - which is owned by the same people anyway.

The Royal Oak, Millbrook
It is now a totally no-smoking pub, but if the weather's nice its a pretty nice area to stand outside in, as long as you look away to the left from it (back up the hill towards the old folks home) as The Commercial is about 100 yards to the right - not nice.
