The Sun, Clapham

Always packed at weekends/fridays which I guess is a sign of a good pub but not for everyone - dont come here if you dont want to have a civilised conversation

The Bobbin, Clapham

Agree with previous reviews - does what pubs do best without pretentions

The Stonhouse, Clapham

(should explain it was my second visit in a week as I like to base reviews of new pubs, especially if they are local and convenient, on several visits) I'm not coming back here though and would advise anyone looking for a pub in the local area to go to the Manor Arms or Bread and Roses.

The Stonhouse, Clapham

Attitude of staff as described in previous review is reason not to visit this establishment and 20 for a bottle of wine in a pub is outrageous!

When I went recently with a group of friends we were very unimpressed with this pub - smoky, too loud and pretentious

The Stonhouse, Clapham

Customers did seem to be suffering from the smug Clapham disease on a recent visit. Apart from that the pub does a reasonable job at what it attempts - upper end of price scale

The Rat and Parrot, Bath

why why why go to this horrible pub - there are many more within a short staggering distance

The Sun and Doves, Camberwell

Not much has changed really, main thing seems to be a new bar and general smartening up of the place. This is still one of the (if not the) best pubs in South London

The Sun and Doves, Camberwell

The S&D is closed for refurbishment this week (27 Nov) and will reopen on Friday 1 December - first impressions of the refurb will be reported at the weekend.

The Grove, Camberwell Grove

empty when we went on a Saturday night when I would have thought it should have been very busy given its location and intended market

The Sun and Doves, Camberwell

Excellent pub quiz on the last Wednesday of every month

All Bar One, Cambridge Circus

Seemed to be shut last time I walked past. Although 'classic' ABO tables still in place interior looked like it was being ripped out. We await with trepidation the arrival of a new ABO or the next 'drinking concept' that the pubco is introducing.

The Old Dispensary, Camberwell

Food did look good, if expensive, on a recent visit. Nice and trendy bar

The Sun and Doves, Camberwell

A pub that poses profund questions - why are we here and is it art? Apart from such existential matters this is a very good pub.

Excellent range of foods and good drinks. Particular highlight is smoothies and cocktails. Not the cheapest place around but worth it for the atmosphere

Salt at the George, Mumbles

Has been done up and made trendy - now called Salt @ The George. Very good general pub with good range of food and excellent Brains beers

The Beehive, Vauxhall

Heaving when we visited on a Friday night - seemed to be mainly aftre work people. Very smoky interior, very pleasant garden.

The Walkabout, Angel, Islington

Nothing special at all - standard range of Walkabout Australian beers, lots of sport and lots of drunk people; alright for some I suppose but not for all

17 Apr 2006 23:22

The Famous Cock Tavern, Islington

OK - nothing special; beer ok, wine ok. I didnt seem to have as bad a service as other contributors and it was very empty on my visit. I can see though that there is potential for a bad experience

17 Apr 2006 23:16

The Lansdowne, Primrose Hill

Very pretty bar maids, not bad beer selection, prices not too bad - 3ish a pint. OK

17 Apr 2006 23:13

Bar 11, Canterbury

Good general cafe / pub with wide range of food. Light and airy bar.

Slightly more expensive than the Wetherspoons nearby and as a result far less crowded - a far better option if you are not driven by price alone.

9 Apr 2006 10:46

The Cricketers, Canterbury

Very good pub on St Peter's Street - formerly Orang and before that Kentish Cricketers. Attracts varied, mainly young clientele. Good beers (Shepherd Neame) and very good outside area - perfect for sipping pints on a spring or summer afternoon

9 Apr 2006 10:39

Occo, Marylebone

So trendy it hurts!

28 Mar 2006 14:34

The Fentiman Arms, Kennington

Manager is a fiesty minx even!

The Fentiman Arms, Kennington

Seems to have been repainted and improved recently and now promises pub quiz, improved menu and other frills. Pub still basically the same - pleasant environment with reasonable range of beers and wines. Expensive but not outrageously so. Good range of games to play and newspapers. Tends to attract a certain rugger type s crowd which may or may not be to your taste.

The manager is a fesity minx - definitely not to be messed with!

28 Mar 2006 14:11

Corum, Battersea

Hip and trendy bar and restaurant on Queenstown Road, open late. Tends to get rather full on Saturday nights

19 Feb 2006 11:18

The Fox, Hanwell

Not bad - nice beers

26 Jan 2006 15:28

The Bell, Bath

Fantastic

26 Jan 2006 15:19

The Jerusalem Tavern, Clerkenwell

Excellent range of quality beers - definitely a 9 or 10 out of 10!

26 Jan 2006 15:17

The Gardeners Arms, Lewes

On a par with the Lansdown as best pub in Lewes - everything you want in a pub really. Can be a bit cramped but this reflects its popularity

26 Jan 2006 15:15

The Town Hall, Staines

Truly horrible - glitzy rubbish

14 Nov 2005 14:49

Cafe Belge, Eastbourne

Cafe/ restaurant with good range of Belgian beers. Food not really worth it - nothing special and rather overpriced - but beer good.

14 Nov 2005 14:39

The Royal Albert, South Lambeth

Seemed to have let itself go a bit

On a recent visit of the nine or so draught beers available at least four were not available, food service was slow, house wine was dreadful and staff seemed to have little idea of what was going on.

Still a good pub - could just do with changes to make the staff a bit more reponsive to customer demands.

13 Jul 2005 22:50

The Waterfront, Nottingham

Good range of beers and wines, interesting building and location -the only pub I know of with a bridge over water inside the building- and good food. We went there for Sunday lunch and had a great meal sat outside in the covered area looking out over the water.

4 Jul 2005 14:19

Yates's, Nottingham

My first proper experience of Yatess and on first impression it seems more like a nightclub than pub with DJ etc. Standard drinks and youngish clientele (although one or two 'older' men as well) - everyone seemed to be rather drunk on the Saturday night we went in. Service at the bar poor - the time taken to get the first round of drinks meant that we went to another pub once we'd finished them. An experience - everyone should do it once!

4 Jul 2005 14:02

Bar Oz, Bayswater

Load of b*llocks - false; go somewhere else if you want any credibility
