The Waterfall, Old Hill

One of the best cask beer pubs around. It has a good selection of guest Ales and always stocks Bathams Bitter, which is my main reason for visiting. The pub was bought by Holdens Brewery, but they have continued to run it almost exactly as it was when it was a free house.

Friday and Saturday nights are always busy and car parking almost impossible on these occasions, although there is street parking.

The Lighthouse, Halesowen

The pub keeps Enville Ale, normally in good form. The main attraction for me is the large non smoking area which is completly separated from the smoking section. The listing of this pub shows it to be in Birmingham, which it is not. It is in Rowley Regis or Halesowen (it is almost exactly on the border). I dont think the Black Country regulars will be happy to be relocated to Brum.

The Lamp Tavern, Birmingham

The Lamp is worth visiting if only for the Stanway Bitter. In addition to this is the Landlord, Eddie, who is one of the most sociable licensees in Birmingham. I always drink more than I had planned because he just makes you feel so welcome. I sometimes have a problem paying for a drink and I often wonder how the pub makes a profit, because whenever I am in, a significant number of customers are bought a pint by mine host.

The Wellington, Birmingham

This pub has an excellent selection of beers which is well kept. The last time I visited I was invited to see the cellar. However, after an hour in the pub, a group of 15 of us had to leave because of the smoke problem.
