The Rusty Bike, Exeter

Just had to write to say what amazing food we had here, last Sunday..

We ate at tea time, and had Venison Sunday Roast, which was delicious.

Staff were totally friendly & helpful.

3 Real Ales on were all in excellent nick..2 were local, one of which was called Flag Ship..also on was an Ind Coope Ale, also very well kept..

A top pub, had a great experience here!

The Hope and Anchor, Bristol

Went back for a second visit, and found it once again to a high standard..

The Gammon, Egg & Chips was great, and Pints of Cheddar Ales Potholer & Palmers IPA in top condition..

All in all, very impressed. A really welcoming & solid pub option for Beers, and for Food..

A perfect place to launch a session from, in fact...

The Portcullis Inn, Bristol

This pub has a delightfully quirky interior...but, the real delight is the range of draught ales available..

The surprisingly youthful manager has a very firm grasp of what cutting edge Ales are being produced, both locally, and in the beer world, generally...

Expect to see Dawkins, Arbor Ales, Brew Dog Brews, and there was talk of an influx of American Craft Brewery Bottled treats in the near future...

This is well worth incorporating on your Clifton Pub Crawl, especially if you are a serious Beer Enthusiast, or someone curious to try some more unusual & fulsome flavoured Ales....even though it is a slight detour to reach, from the main bulk of Clifton Village boozers...

Zero Degrees, Bristol

I think that the Microbrewery-Theme interior is pretty logical, when compared to similar establishments i have visited in the USA & Germany..

It is, however, better suited to the warmer weather & the summertime, in my opinion... as the high ceilings & vast space & doors opening & closing to the Terrace can lead to it getting chilly..

The food has been very good on my 3 eating visits...it is mainly focused on Pizza (again, this is a theme i have seen in the USA, in Micros)..

The Beer is very nice, too...maybe not as extreme in Hops/Flavours as, say, Arbor Ales or the recent BBF Southville/Acer...but certainly to a high standard...the Belgian Style Wheat was in particularly good form last time i visited...

Colston Yard, Bristol

Now Stocking bottles of the delicious "Schlenkerla Rauchbier" smoked Marzen speciality dark beer from Bamberg,Franconia....

Also, Maisel's Weisse from Bayreuth is the current "House" German Draught Wheat....

Just when i thought this place couldn't get any better.......

The Robin Hood, Bristol

Terrific Pub for Beer Enthusiasts...

On Tap during my visit:
Brooklyn Lager, Brew Dog 5am Saint & Punk IPA, Moor Revival, Otley & Worcester Sauce Ales, too..

Also spotted Flying Dog Scratch IPA in bottles, along with a good selection of Belgian & US craft lines...

The food was also excellent, the Steak Sandwich with Chips was 6.50 i think, and to a very high standard...the menu was small, simple & suitable to accompany a predominantly beer drinking social gathering.....

Will be returning asap to this smart pub....

The Devonshire Cat, Sheffield

They had a massive Glass Cubicle next to the bar area, where they keep their awesome selection of bottled beers chilled, when i went there....

Seemed a novel idea, instead of having Fridges....certainly meant that as i first walked into the boozer, i was left in no doubt that this pub meant business, when it came to smart beer!

One of several truly fantastic Beer Pubs in Sheffield...

The Evening Star, Brighton

Yep, this pub's beer selection is bang on....

Couldn't believe my luck, when i visited, to find Great Divide Titan IPA on DRAUGHT, all the way from Denver...

They also had a Flying Dog beer from the tap, and Victory & Odells beers in bottles...

The Dark Star beers were excellent, also..

Overall, a spectacularly good pub, if you love Real Ales or American Hop-heavy Craft Beers

The Hope and Anchor, Bristol

Had a really impressive Sunday Roast here recently...as the fellow reviewer says, the Roasts are available throughout the afternoon, which is handy...

Also, the pint of Exmoor Gold that i had was first class...

Service was polite and enthusiastic, and the pub itself very pleasant...can recommend....

The Eldon House, Bristol

Popped in for a couple last Friday...

Skinner's Cornish Knocker Ale, BBF Sunrise & Bath Ales Gem were on...The Black Keys on the Stereo....Fine..

Seems a busy pub, with a good chatty atmosphere... quite liked the Extension, which was essentially a Glass Roof put over the existing Court Yard...

Only slight negative was that the temperature was noticeably hot, on this occasion...

Grain Barge, Bristol

Am flummoxed by the negative reviews here....

Have had dinner here three times in recent weeks, and the food was spectacularly good, in my opinion....mains are about 8-10.00, and are beautiful...

Personally, i really like the Bristol Beer Factory Beers, and its worth noting that they have added to their range recently, with the terrific "Southville Hop" & "Acer" recently available on tap here, plus the "Bristol Hefe" Wheat Beer in bottles....

OK, its not a typical or traditional "Pub" vibe, but i love the views out over the River, and the laid back music (Fleet Foxes Etc Etc)...staff have been excellent, friendly & welcoming on all my visits....

Just wish i lived closer by.....

The Clifton, Clifton

Has always seemed lively, with a good atmosphere, when i've popped in....

The staff are cool, the food i've had has been excellent, in a solid pub grub way, and the beer selection & quality is splendid...(Paulaner Helles/Erdinger Weiss/Tim Taylor Landlord)...

Sometimes the front bar guest Ales are a nice surprise, too...had a lovely pint of Adnams Kolsch, one time...

Always one that features in our Clifton Pub Crawls....

Colston Yard, Bristol

A crucial stop off for any Beer enthusiast visiting Bristol, with its extensive range of top draught beers, including Butcombes Gold/Blond/Cold Filtered Blond/Brunel IPA/Bitter.... and often German Veltins Pils/Krombacher Weizen/Vedett Belgian White....

Also, a heady collection of German, Belgian & American bottled specialities in the Fridges...(Goose Island IPA/Honker's Ale....Delirium Tremens....Westmalle Dubbel/Triple Trappist...)

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the food is delicious (especially the Ribs)...

Handily placed for before & after drinks for gigs/shows @ Colston Hall/O2 Academy...if you can force yourself to leave, that is!

Royal Oak, Clevedon

This is a tremendous, cosy, friendly pub in the midst of a pretty, terraced street...just a stone's throw from the Sea Front & Pier..

The Real Ales are extremely well kept, and very consistent....Butcombe Bitter & Fuller's London Pride are the regulars, with a good selection of rotating guests, including Butcombe Gold, Bath Ales Wild Hare, St Austell Proper Job IPA and many more...

They also have a keen following for their Real Ciders, with 2 Thatchers on tap, and a number of excellent Bottled offerings...

It is a pub strongly frequented by Local Drinkers of all ages, which gives a vibrant mix, and there is no jukebox etc, so the atmosphere is generated by all the banter of the incumbents....a top hostelry, that is welcoming to all ...

Any visitors i have taken along have enjoyed the traditional pub experience....long may this (Award Winning) Pub's success continue...
