The Blue Bell Inn, Dockenfield

Very lovely on a summer's evening with lots of children and dogs/dog walkers in the garden.
Friendly staff- although service does suffer when it gets busy. Food is okay to fairly good but a little expensive. Then this is a country pub in Surrey so what can we expect?

Overall if the weather is nice then the garden is a lovely place to be with a pretty good pint and not bad food.
Bumped into Damon Hill (the ex-F1 champion) in there this summer which blew my tiny little mind! Been a big fan of his for years! So much so I couldn't bring myself to talk to him! I always choke when I meet famous people I admire!

The Slug and Lettuce, Farnham

Using the 50% off food vouchers which have been going around recently is the only way you can justify the food ie paying 8/9/10 quid for a microwaved burger is a no no.

The staff are great though and the new assistant manageress is a little minx :)

Borelli's Cafe Bar and Restaurant, Farnham

You know what? This place reminds me massively of bars in Japan from the 1980s/90. The dark decor, bar design and seating arrangement etc is what i mean.

The staff are alright but no cocktails ( when i asked for one in the round i was putting together i was stared at blankly) and it does seem to be full of craphats at the weekends?

The Crossways Inn, Churt

dcdevil69,

First the service is friendly and quick...

"the beer is far from kept well" shows you really don't know what you are talking about.

Just stay clear of independent pubs as you obviously don't like them.
Just stay with you so so beer at the Slug in Farnham and enjoy the microwaved and very expensive food they serve up.
As for the Crossways it is a nice simple local and i thank it for being just that!

The Royal Exchange, Bordon

Well they sell beer and other things.

Overall a heartbraking pub but ,as i understand, the owner is waiting to sell up rather than doing anything with it.

Lovely friendly lady there behind the bar though!!!!

The Pride of the Valley, Churt

Really lovely pub/hotel. Garden is wonderful and spacious. The food is top notch ( and they are a member of the Gourmet Society :) ) so there is a discount available if you have a card.
Staff are wonderful, as is the restaurant and bar.

Really is an oasis in this area and deserves much success.

The Crossways Inn, Churt

Wow dcdevil69,

Never eaten in here so will take your word for it on the food but after clicking on your name and reading through some other reviews you have posted i had to laugh a bit. Apart from Slug and Lettuces you don't seem to like to many pubs ,do you? Apart from faceless chains :)

Anyway this is a simple local selling fantiastic beer so the fact they do not except debite cards you will understand and the fact you didn't have any real money on you is hardly the fault of the pub. Although you may secretly be blaming it.

Anyway m8 i am the various Slugs around the country will love your business.

The Woodcock, Beacon Hill

This pub is dreadful. It will never be the centre of life in Beacon Hill only a place to go to when all else fails.
The beer is not very well kept and they do not sell real versions of certain famous drinks only weird rip-off labels. But still charge you the same !!
You can judge a place by the regulars and in this case the regulars are not of the highest quality but then again that fits in with the feeling here overall.
Avoid.Avoid.Avoid

The Crossways Inn, Churt

Love this pub. The beer here is fantastic and staff are great. Regulars are also friendly and chatty.
What makes me laugh about this place is that it does no food in the evenings....only serves beer!!
I love that and i can understand how they can get away with it because the great choice and wonderfully kept beer will always keep people coming back.
Simple to sum this pub up ..it's great!!

The Hamilton Arms, Stedham

Hi,
Popped in for lunch on the way to somewhere. Well very local feel to the place, and friendly, and in it that respect i like it.
The downside is the terrible Thai food we had.It tasted like i had cooked it with a while suffering from a hang over ie careless and tastless.
The prawns were rubbery and the noddles just bad.
Shame as we were hoping for better-much better.

The Holly Bush, Headley

To be honest i do not hate this pub at all although it does have a bit of a reputation for trouble...really ? Seems fine to me.
I don't think i would eat here though as Hampshire county council's safe2eat web site states the hygene here is "unsatisfactory"

The Rising Sun, Milland

Had a burger here once after the Black Fox (between here and Liphook on the old A3) told us that it would be a 45 minute wait before we would get our food. How honest is that?
Anyway came here as we were hungry..the food took 90 minutes to arrive!! Well you live and learn.
BTW although the waiting time here was too long by far, and not being told it would take so long is way out of order, the burger was very nice. Won't be going again though.

The Black Fox Inn, Milland

Just went again last Friday..we just ordered the simpler dishes this time ie ham,egg and chips and the chilli.
Both great..the wife said the chill was the best she has ever had and she ordered the ham,egg and chips so you can tell how much i had of my chilli!!
Next time we will go for the seafood again as it really is top notch!

The Sandrock, Boundstone

Yeah you have to wait for the food but that is because it is being freshly prepared. That is how it should be in my opinion!!
Anyway fantastic food and beer and the sunday roasts are huge and very nice.

The Crown Inn, Headley

Nice beer but the food is not very good. In fact. had a steak which tasted like it was tesco budget quality and was poorly prepared.
Shame but true. Still a lovely building though.

The Black Fox Inn, Milland

Always very, very nice food using fresh quality ingredients and very, very well prepared. The seafood soup is great, the steaks are fantastic, and the deserts are as good as you could wish for. ie the summer trifle is how trifle should be.
In fact all the menu is top class and the beer is perfect.
Go and you will go again.

The Jolly Farmer, Blacknest

Hi,
My wife, daughter and myself have just comne back from the Jolly Farmer in Blacknest (details below)this luchtime and i must report that the food was truly terrible.
The roast beef was of the worst we have ever eaten..and that is saying something!!
The meat was poorly cooked and chopped rather than sliced. The roast potatoes were -at a guess-3 days old,the gravy tasted very strange and the vegtables were tasteless.Do the cooks taste what they serve ? Do the managers have any standards ?
On your website you say the food at the Jolly farmer is ,"fresh home-cooked food; the menu is superb and very tasty" Sorry but that is a gross misrepresentation of the true quality.
It is a shame because the garden is nice but we will not be going back to this place again and will urge others not to visit.
