The Compasses Inn, Gomshall

Quite quet in here for a mid Sunday afternoon, five others in the bar. Three beers on tap all from the Surrey Hills Brewery, Ranmore Ale, Sheer Drop and Greensand IPA - the latter in fine condition but that came at a price 3.90 a pint!

Theyve started selling a Surrey Hills beer alongside the usual Shepherd Neame range and its selling extremely well! Shere Drop at first, but Ranmore Ale currently on at 3.40 a pint. The handpump is in the bar, but a clip is displayed in the lounge.

The Anchor, Bookham

Paid a visit early Sunday evening a coupe of weeks ago, nice interior and quite quiet when I was there. Five real ales on including Surrey Hills Sheer Drop (3.40) and Harveys Bitter (3.45) both in good condition but pricey!

Very welcoming and pleasant pub by the river just a few minutes walk from the town centre. As reported has been taken over by Shepherd Neame who recently installed nine new handpumps over the two bars. Beers are from the full brewery range and on Saturday night included, Jack, Master Brew, Kent's Best, Whitstable Bay, Spitfire, Bishops Finger and Harvest Gold. Late Red (Autumn Hop Ale) is due on this week. There is occasional live music in the lounge at weekends, and both darts and pool in the smaller public bar. A beer garden to the rear and heated patio (via the lounge) allow for outdoor drinking.

The Boaters Inn, Kingston Upon Thames

Made my first visit for years early Saturday evening and I wasn't disappointed.
On tap, and in very good condition, were York Guzzler, St Austel IPA, Dark Star Over the Moon, Crouch Vale Amarillo and Brew Dog Physics. All seemed to be 3 a pint. Pleasant atmosphere and surroundings and nice outside riverside drinking/smoking area. Well worth the 10 minute walk along the river from Kingston Bridge.

Old Plough, Stoke D'Abernon

Popped in last night for what is now a weekly visit. Beers on were Ascot Ales Posh Pooch, Sambrooks Wandle Ale, Waylands Dark Knight, Shepherd Neame Spitfire - which was selling well, and Courage Best. Tried the first three which were all 3 a pint and in good condition. You can sample the beers before you buy - just ask.

The Speaker, Westminster

Youngs Ordinary and Shepherd Neame Spitfire appear to be the regular beers. These were complemented on my visit last night by Hogs Back Hop Garden Gold and Moorehouse Premium Bitter. When the Moorehouse ran out it was replaced within five minutes by Twickenham Summer Gold! All three guests were in excellent condition, and about 3.05 a pint. No obtrusive music, a warm welcome, and the food was fine and good value... would definitely return soon.

The Will Adams, Gillingham

Morrissey Fox Blonde, Salopian Oracle, TT Landlord, Harveys Bitter and Hopback Summer Lightning all on top form here after the match on Saturday night. A group of half a dozen us were made very welcome by the landlord and regulars. Great jukebox and interesting 'Manchester Log End' style dart boards.

Somers Sports and Social Club, Halesowen

Nice friendly social club with a great selection of ales at reasonable prices. Im not a member but was allowed access by showing my CAMRA membership card.

The Clifton Arms, Caterham

Very friendly and relaxed place on my quick Bank Holiday lunchtime visit. Great pint of Westerham British Bulldog (2.70) while viewing some of the hundreds of interesting old pictures and artefacts that adorn the walls. Hope to be back again one day.
