my husband and i went here on a midweek evening in february. the place was very quiet, so we were a bit worried...you know what they say. i had the fillet steak and my other half had the fish and chips. i have never seen a piece of fish so big. it was to die for...probably caught that day from the freshness. my steak was mouthwatering and so tender, i didn't need the steak knife. why is a place like this quiet.....they should be beating people away from the door.

i had a lovely sarnie here about two weeks ago. the landlord is very friendly and the place is clean.

i would have to say this is a great place for lunch, be it a little expensive. the food is of a good standard and the service good.

we ate here after being recommended, and i was very disappointed. the food was mediocre and the service poor. i think they spend all their time and efforts advertising the place and have forgotten how to actually serve good food.

this pub should be heaving...but it isn't. the staff seem o.k if a little countryfied, and the food stepped straight out of the 'mike'...ouside is lovely in the summer

we have been here several times and the standard is very up and down...i would go only for a lunch, and be careful what you order....the veg was very strange...squash!!!!

i don't understand how this place keeps going. the service and food are poor at best. someone needs to take this place and start again....but differently.

this is a great place for top quality food and atmosphere. the pub is over 400 years old, with beams and open fires....excellent.

The Three Compasses, Alfold
i would definitely recommend this pub for a quick lunch time bite or a pint on the way home from work
