The Red Lion, Barnes

No idea what the low rating is for - I went on Saturday with 9 friends for lunch. The service was great, and we were lucky as it wasn't too busy so we were very well looked after, although I have been when it is busy and they are always very good although sometimes you have to wait a bit longer for the food. No complaints though as all the food we had was great! Very reasonable prices as well.

Plus there is the fire plus sofa's!

Very good pub to go to for food, and is also child and dog friendly!

The White Swan, Richmond

Went here a couple of weeks ago for lunch with some friends. Waiting service was very friendly and efficient. We had burgers which were very tasty - bit messy, but tasted great! Good bottle of wine with our lunch as well, very enjoyable. Quite a few Harlequin supporters there for pre match drinks but they were mainly outside.

Ye White Hart, Barnes

We met here for a friends engagement drinks while the 6 nations rugby was on. There was a good atmosphere. The blokes all watched the rugby and turned the sound up to drown out our chatter. We drank the house champagne which was fine - not exceptional.
They do serve food here but we didn't eat. There are great river views, and seating outside by the river as well. It's a great place for watching rowing from as you see all of the curve of the river from Chiswick Bridge to Barnes Bridge and beyond.
We also noticed that they are part of a community scheme where you can pop in and use the toilets without having to feel guilty if you aren't a customer!

The Jolly Gardners, Putney

Generally a bit too busy for me. Was heaving on Sunday night - someone spilt beer all over my coat, probably my fault!
Did have food here once but it was pretty unexciting - just stodge to soak up booze really, potato wedges etc.
Like the board games - Trivial Pursuit seems to work very well for funnelling spilt wine back into your glass.

Mortimer, Fitzrovia

Went on a Monday night in January so the place was nearly empty. Fairly pricey, and the food was very disappointing in quantity versus price. Especially when it's chips - must be the cheapest thing to dish out!
Wouldn't go back.

The Spencer Arms, Putney

15 of us had lunch here in December for our 'Girls Christmas Lunch'. We had a great time - the service was brilliant, they didn't mind us rearranging the tables, or our (very noisy) conversation. Lunch was very good and we got serenaded by a chap on his bagpipes as there was a pre-wedding lunch going on at the same time.
It wasn't particularly cheap but we did order fizz as well as wine so that probably added a bit to the cost. Would definitely recommend it for lunch/dinner.

All Bar One, Smithfield

Went on a Saturday lunchtime - the service was poor and we ordered food which mostly turned up cold. No idea how they managed such bad service as the place was very quiet at the time. Wouldn't go back if you paid me.

The Horse Bar, Waterloo

Went to a friends party here which meant they had use of the upstairs room. Was very nice, although when I was there the service was a bit slow but then it was very busy!
Good atmosphere and easy to get to.

The Hope, Richmond

Great place to watch the rugby, always pretty busy with good service, and used to serve Magners cider before everyone else did. Cheesy bands also play here which are usually entertaining on a Friday night. Good curry house a couple of doors away as well!

6 St Chad's Place, Kings Cross

I went to 6 St Chads Place after seeing it on here, as we wanted somewhere slightly more salubrious to meet than the station pubs at Kings Cross. We were pretty impressed, although I got there at 5.45pm on a Friday and there was pretty much no where to sit. House wine was good, and I loved the building with it's high ceilings. I'd definitely recommend it as an alternative if you've got time to kill waiting for your train.

Novellos, Parsons Green

I love Elvis night at Novello's, its great fun, its normally packed and the atmosphere is always good. If Lou is doing the Elvis slot then it's even better as some of the Elvis's aren't particularly good, but it's still a laugh!
