Falcon, High Wycombe

Probably the best pub in HW for real ale served from a well managed cellar with clean pipes and no silly Muzak! Best to order a quart if you want a pint! Quite how they keep the Cask 'Marque with short measures is difficult to fathom out. To be fair there is no resistance to a top up whatsoever. An oasis in a town of hardly any outlets for acceptable real ale.

Belle Vue, High Wycombe

They work hard to deliver a great pub experience. A great place! Good real ale given the pubco constraints that they presumably suffer from.

The Gate Inn, Bryants Bottom

Great ambience, staff, location etc but the real ale is still woeful! It inspired me to take up home brewing 25 years ago and things have not improved with my first visit back there recently.

The Coach and Horses Inn, Chepstow

Popped in once. Had one pint. Perfect. My guess is that the cellarmanship is outstanding.

The Royal Oak, Ellerdine Heath

The cellarmanship is superb resulting in perfectly dispensed beer. Excellent range and sensibly priced. Must be the best pub in Shropshire for those who pick their pubs according to beer quality.

Railway Inn, Upper Killay

I don't care whether locals talk to me or look at me peculiarly. My only concern is beer quality. The cellarmanship is excellent and as a result the beer quality is the best that I have found anywhere in Wales. (Obviously I have not drunk in many pubs % wise but I do do my research before entering one!). I think that the ambience is marvellous but might understand why others could have a contrary view.
