The Britannia Inn, Elterwater

Fantastic, idyllic location.Gets very busy with queue for the bar snaking its way out of the door.Fine ales including Coniston Bluebird and a couple of interesting guests.Good outdoor seating area overlooking the green and the outstanding surrounding area.

The Talbot Hotel, Winton

A vast improvement since my last visit..and a couple of pints of Ringwood Forty Niner too.

The Golden Rule, Ambleside

Great pub with atmosphere. Was treated to an impromptu performance of Beatles songs by a couple of guys with cello and guitar.Range of Robinsons beers which were ok.

King's Harold Head, Nazeing Common

The Spotted Dog, Flamstead

I was here during the Scarecrow Festival weekend so it was pretty busy and the staff were running around like headless chickens but it seems like a great place to drink during quieter moments.Archers IPA was on offer as well as a couple of Tring ales.

The White Horse, Hertford

What a fabulous pub..a visit is absolutely essential if you are in Hertford. Was there at the weekend for the beer festival which, once again, did not disappoint with a fine selection of ales.

The Old Cross Tavern, Hertford

Fantastic pub with ever changing beer selection along with regulars being Landlord and London Pride.Always good beers from Hertford`s Red Squirrel brewery.Nice relaxed atmosphere and a fine selection of pies!

Townsend Arms, Hertford

Has had a lick of paint in recent times and possibly a change of owners.Lovely beer garden for summer drinking.Used to serve Landlord but ale choice is now down to the ubiquitous GK IPA.GRRRR.

The Silver Fox, Hertford Heath

Hey,it`s not all that bad!Mind you,I have never eaten there, but for a pint in pleasant surroundings it`s OK.Have not been to one of their "tribute"nights.
Beer is ok.Usual choices,IPA,Abbot,Speckled Hen plus a guest which changes every few weeks or so.Just stick with the crisps!

The White Swan, Hoddesdon

Pre July 1st,it used to be the smokiest pub in Britain, and this is coming from a smoker!Probably the best pub out of a pretty small selection in Hoddy high Street.Gets very crowded on match days(especially Arsenal v Spurs).Usually 3 or 4 ales on offer of varying quality. The GK IPA was almost undrinkable on my last visit.Still, this old duffer likes it better than the Salisbury next door...

The Bell, Studham

Nice pub, good beer garden with lovely views.

Sun, Hoddesdon

Not a bad pub.Idyllic view from beer garden overlooking Sun roundabout and the Tower Centre!!.Very well kept selection of McMullen`s ales.My only real gripe about the place is that it is too brightly lit inside...my girlfriend had to wear sunglasses on the evening we were there.

The Talbot Hotel, Winton

Had closed down for a couple of weeks due to refurb/change of owners.Unfortunately,it is still terrible. On my visit,I had a pint of Guinness which was off and it also seemed like a creche for people who had just done their shopping in Wimborne Road. Why oh why the paucity of decent pubs in the Winton/Moordown area??
