O'Donoghues, Wakefield

O'Donoghue's is back open, with welcoming landlords Brian and Janet. Music every Friday and Saturday night. Good beer from Scottish & Newcastle but sadly no local beers *yet* - beer priced around the 2.40 mark (as previously documented here).

The former landlord had pretty much gutted the place and seating is in a bad state, so it has yet to return to its former charm. However even after a fortnight open it is regaining character and many of the regulars have returned (including the musicians).

Back open again, landlord has good plans for it. Will write a more detailed review when I've been for a week or two!

Harrys Bar, Wakefield

Harry's is a lovely pub - Ian (affectionately known as Fish) is a really welcoming landlord.

Mondays are 'open mic' night, and can be a bit of a distraction if you're hoping for a quiet pint. Also Wednesdays usually there's a band on and in such a small room it can get *very* noisy. Otherwise it's a good venue but can get very very busy.

Good range of ales, the bar staff are really helpful and will assist you in picking something to your tastes.

Harrys Bar, Wakefield

Nice cosy small pub, gets very crowded sometimes especially if there's a band playing. Good selection of guests as well as several from Ossett Brewery.

It's been shut for the past few weeks - the Graziers' landlord has given it back to the brewery so I hear.

The Black Bull, Pocklington

Excellent food - one of the few places I've found who really know how to cook steak (4.95 too - good price). Bar serves Tetleys, good polite good-looking bar staff.
