The Bavarian Beerhouse, Shoreditch

Love this place. Beer is on the pricey side, but then again this is good quality German stuff. The real McCoy - the Erdinger dunkel weissbier is excellent. Food good also. Highly recommended.

The Garden Gate, Hampstead Heath

Very nice spot - great for a pint on a summer's evening. Some nice wheat beer on tap, but there is always a bit of a wait at the bar.

The Snipe, Sutton in Ashfield

Food is variable - sometimes excellent, sometimes mediocre. Usually 2-3 cask conditioned ales. Hot nuts and a good selection of snacks. Some comfy leather seats and sofas - not a bad place to spend an evening.

Waggon and Horses, Alfreton

A fairly typical Wetherspoons - very spacious with a good range of beers and reasonably priced food. Occasionally gets a bit raucous - best to avoid at weekends.

Hawthorns, Alfreton

A nice spacious lounge. Tastefully furnished, but often rather empty on weekdays. Usually 1-2 real ales available. Food is very good, especially the Sunday carvery.

Poet and Castle, Ripley

A hidden gem. I regularly call in here on the way home from work for a pint of draught Erdinger. Top quality stuff. Lots of great English ales in great condition as well. Very nice decor, comfy seats and friendly staff.
